Enslaved Wants to Own Your Wallet With Its Collectors Edition

Enslaved looks like it might get some help dominating Europe thanks to its recently-announced Collector's Edition.

Enslaved: Odyssey of the West seemed to come out of nowhere this summer and <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101459-E3-2010-Enslaved-Odyssey-to-the-West-Hands-on>sufficiently impressed Greg when he spent some time with it at E3. The upcoming action-adventure from Ninja Theory sounds pretty fun and creative, and Namco Bandai is sweetening the deal for European gamers with its recently-announced Collector's Edition.

The Enslaved: Collector's Edition includes a special case, a book full of concept art, and a copy of the game's soundtrack (composed by pop musician <a href=http://www.nitinsawhney.com/nitinsawhney/Home.html>Nitin Sawhney). For the moment, this is exclusive to Europe and no price tag has been announced.

If you're unfamiliar with Enslaved, the game is an action-adventure set in a lush post-apocalyptic world where humanity is nearly extinct and dangerous wild robots roam the lands. Its story is loosely based on <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journey_to_the_West>Journey to the West, starring a warrior named Monkey who is temporarily enslaved by a young woman named Trip in order to help her survive the wastelands until she returns home.

I'm a sucker for art books, mainly because I'm always on the lookout for new ideas when it comes to my own illustration work, so I would definitely pick this package up if it becomes available on my side of The Pond before its October release. At the moment, Namco Bandai hasn't hinted at a Collector's Edition for North America, but if you <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Enslaved-Odyssey-West-Xbox-360/dp/B00319DX4W/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1282937028&sr=8-3>pre-order the game through Amazon you'll get access to the game's soundtrack.

Hmm, first I've heard of this one. I'll have to take a look. Collector's Edition looks cool though, I'm also a sucker for art books.

European viewers may know Journey To The West through a more "irrepressible" source.

Possibly the first ever Martial Arts meets Religion show....ever. And boy did it kick ass. ;)

Actually, the intro doesn't show off what it was known for...

Enslaved is a game? I thought you were on about the band Enslaved. Who just so happen to be high ranking on my list of best bands.

What? thats the complete standard version of collectors edition, i thought they would include a plastic version of the main weapon and some other swag to own that headline.

How can such a generic collectors edition be news?

There's a lot to like about Enslaved: Odyssey to the West: there's the interesting characters and setting; the writer from films like 28 Days Later and Sunshine; and the motion-capture, which I believe I heard was being managed/directed by Andy Serkis.

But to fork up more money for a Collector's Edition of a game I'm still not certain will be great is a tough call. We'll see.

I am quite excited for this game: "It's just another Journey to the west Revision." was the Thought when I first heard the details, but...I want to actually play it.

That, and I'm making So many Dragon ball Jokes.

Oh cool, I can't wait to.... oh wait, it's console exclusive.

I'd seriously would like to punch the guy that said that PC gaming ISN'T dying.
Wtf am I supposed to do? Go back to Wow? Play that fucking Starcraft 2 mediocrity?

Christ...........
You are actually endlessly supposed to heap praise on Valve for...something.

It's a generic special edition. But you can't say that about the game, at least!

... How did I not hear about this game before? I just checked out the E3 gameplay footage, and I have to say... do want.
However, this CE, while pretty, is not special enough for me to want it. And besides, the game could still control like arse, so I'm going to rent it before I possibly fork out my cash for it, anyway.

This is what I thought myself.

Never heard of this game, dont own the console, the CE is nothing out of the ordinary (it's the most basic of CEs now to come with art and music and a special case), it probably wont cost that much.

Slow news day is slow?

This game has my attention solely for the fact that you play as someone being forced to do dirty work for someone else. I really hope that at the end of the game there's the option to push that ***** off a building.
