well remember the PS2 at its last push of games GOW 2 namely even Shadow of the colossus looked as good as some early 360 games which made us question its power. of course as you figure out ways to push it farther you will get results.. Games i think are at a damn near perfect level of graphics capability. of vourese there is room to grow and the beeter stuff and techniques get the better results you get later on.

I honestly feel there is no way we can push the little box without causing a fuck load more red rings.

I believe them.
It took YEARS before people harnessed the PS2's power with stuff like GT4 and BLACK, imagine what the 360 will do with that much time.

Yes, but the Ps2 was the Ps2, and the 360 is the 360. The 360 is nowhere near like the Ps2 in any way. If the Xbox ever managed to do that "major increase in graphics" there would be a tiny amount of validity to what they're claiming, but as it stands, they're bluffing.
Indigo is right you cant compare them, the PS2 (and PS1) took alot of time to master due to how hard they where to program for (the later games on PS2 were amazeing visualy compared to the earlier titles due to this) wheres the 360 was designed to be easy to program (based on PC tech) so you wont get the massive leaps for 360 like you did with PS2 or PS1.

Just to add, Mr Fergusson said "i think it can do more" and "i still thinks theres lots more room to grow", theres no mention of "major increase in graphics".

In a few years time we'll know exactly if this was correct or not, until then they can only speculate.

Exactly! Does it really matter if a game looks pretty, very pretty or amazingly pretty?? Not to me it doesn't, actually some of the games I play most have relatively simple graphics. Really, what's with the obsession with graphics? I'd much rather see them pushing the envelope in areas such as gameplay, replayability, extras/unlockables, length of the game, balancing, fixing glitches, etc etc.

guys, face it

no console will ever match the insane graphics of the nintendo entertainment system, so let's just stop trying

on a serious note, curretly games cost so much to make and by making the graphics better, they're just gonna cost more with no other improvements
and that money/time comes out of how long the game is, so why not stop with the graphics and focus on really long games, like imagine if c <insert your favourite non rpg/mmorpg here> lasted for 50 hours of original levels or overworld just for the main game
it would render dlc pointless aside from patches, what it should be for

I'm not saying that Ferguson isn't talking big, but I believe this. For a very long time people believed the Genesis had topped out, but then Treasure came around and blew everything else out of the water. We got to see games of SNES, if not better, quality on a system less equipped.

Well some things can fall under a number of categories. For instance - living scenery, moving on a level that is itself moving over terrain. Is this a purely aesthetic tweak?
Oh, yeah, sometimes things can look good and enhance gameplay. But what I don't like is giving priority to graphics just so the game will look awesome in screenshots and have a big "oooh shiney" factor, as I suspect a lot of games do these days.

Well Gears 2 had some of the best warzone combat I've ever played with. The graphics are already magnificent, and it'll be interesting to see what Epic can come up with next.

Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate.

Looks almost as good as the first wave Xbox 360 and PS3 games (especially the season change effects when fighting Tengu), and runs at full 720p HD.

That's the major graphical leap of the original Xbox.

I think id Software can push the graphics if they tried harder. I would love to see id on top of the food chain again.

Yes maybe the Xbox 360 has strong proccessing power, who knows the PS3 might have even more but for me this all boils down to one simple question:

WHO THE HELL CARES?!!!!

Why do the graphics in games have to be such a big deal? Why does the look of the game make such an impact on people's purchasing choice? Why do people go online and research console's for processing power before they will commit to one?
WHY?
