Salutations fellow Escapists. I'm wanting to get sum epic music. No particular reason, I'm just feeling a lack of awesome in the air.

The Decemberists have some pretty solid epic songs. The Mariner's Revenge Song or the entire Hazards of Love album (especially The Queen's Rebuke/The Crossing) are especially good places to start.

Kinda hard to describe exactly what I'm looking for. Pretty much the sorts of songs that play around particularly badass characters in video games and movies. Songs that just sort of make you feel awesome. As far as specific parameters, I guess more rock/techno stuff, but anything you feel as epic.

Gods of War by Manowar. Just listen.

The Dies Irae piece from the Symphonie Fantastique. This is absolutely powerful. I feel like I'm a giant crushing a city whenever I hear this.

The Ecstasy of Gold from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" score. Stirs the heart and extremely moving.

Wings for Marie (both parts) by Tool, a long, beautiful, epic mourning song.

Dragana i Slavei by the Bulgarian Women's Choir; my favourite choral piece.

The Russian National Anthem is as epic as national hymns go, and it is my favourite. I'm not Russian, and I don't know what they're singing, but it sounds great.
