In 2015 Mark Haynes (Alvin Earthworm) released the first episode of a remake of his Newground flash series Super Mario Bros. Z. It's a sprite based Mario Sonic crossover with power levels and fight choreography inspired by Dragon Ball Z. The remake was fantastic and utterly blew his previous work out of the water. It's just as good as the first episode. I feel he really nails the epic sprite combat and blends it well with humour that feels right in line with what we got from the Mario RPGs like Paper Mario. If we all eat healthy and exercise maybe a few of us will live to see the series conclude in another 6 or 7 decades.
