so there is "real" lesbian porn? where would one find said material? purely for research of course.....trooper6 said:1. Lots of women like guy/guy scenes. Heck that is entirely what slash fiction is about...which started back in the 70s.NOOOB1 said:I think this is a bit of false double standard. I think the real reason for the different reactions is that women aren't as attracted to the idea of two guys as guys are attracted to the idea of two women. I'll give you perfect counterpoint to Black Swan: Brokeback Mountain. Both are so far considered to be good films with attractive stars of the same gender involving steamy love scenes. And even though many women acknowledge Brokeback as a good film, I have noticed very few to go on about how "hot" the love scenes were. Its not a double standard, just women don't have the same reaction to guys that men have to lesbians.
2. Guys don't like actual lesbians. They like straight girls pretending to be "lesbians." And turning "lesbians" into sexual objects for straight men is irritating--especially considering that actual lesbians aren't attracted to men as a rule. As a note, in the porn industry there is "lesbian" porn made by straight men for straight men...then there is actual lesbian porn made by lesbians for lesbians. They don't look the same, the aren't filmed the same, the actresses don't look the same, and straight men don't generally buy the actual lesbian porn. There is a reason for that. Guys don't like actual lesbians.
no one said it is a major factor, but you are only lying to yourself if you don't admit that sex appeal (and sex scenes)have no importance in the tv shows and movies that people watch.Clonekiller said:So let me see if I got this straight. Hot lesbian sex is a major factor in making a movie good? WTF? I rather like to see about a movies elements, not spend two minutes chatting about sexy lesbians, and how such comments should be fine in society. When did Movie Bob become a critic on society instead of movies?
Here's just something to think about: sex is primal and lacks art, where as sexuality (romance and the like) is nothing but art. Movie Bob should stick with talking about this rather than freaking sex scenes.
True, sex, like cheesy advertising, sell a product, mainly because it appeals to the base primal instincts of humanity, particularly men. However, sex itself is not an artistic act. As a result, it shouldn't be a major factor in an artistic medium. Things like nude paintings are artful expressions of sexuality, but pictures of an actual sex act is labeled "porn", mostly for good reason. That is why sexuality, not sex, is the important thing.NOOOB1 said:no one said it is a major factor, but you are only lying to yourself if you don't admit that sex appeal (and sex scenes)have no importance in the tv shows and movies that people watch.Clonekiller said:So let me see if I got this straight. If anything it incorporates a bit of a Lovecraftian short story known as Pickman's Model. How an artist suffers and mutilates themselves for the sake of art. Like how Portman is doing in this movie, Pickman butchered his sanity for doing everything he could to emulate true horror in his works and paintings.Gyrefalcon said:I thought this review was quite interesting. I wondered what exactly Black Swan was and it might just be a winner. I am curious though if you could look at "Stage Beauty" and make the same comments. I would really like to see you review that one. But it is older. :/ Thanks for showing us you still know your stuff!
You had me at "Lovecraftian horror". I will have to catch this soon, but I have to catch Tron and Unstoppable first. Group movie dates.Madara XIII said:If anything it incorporates a bit of a Lovecraftian short story known as Pickman's Model. How an artist suffers and mutilates themselves for the sake of art.
