I'm starting to treat MovieBob more like Yahtzee. Good entertainment, sure, but I don't think I really want to base my purchases off his reviews. Splice... Deathly Hollows... Of the movies I've gotten excited about to see, because he had many high brow things to say about them, I've been very dissapointed in most.

Also, is it just me or has he gone from "Being a mature adult who admits that sex exists as a part of the human experience" to "Tits, or GTFO".

Also, for anyone who really wants a horrible thought: Imagine MB giving a voice over critique of the next pornographic movie you watch.

While you watch it.

In Person.

wow looks very intresting. so no i won't go to see it. but thanks for asking.

and really, the 2 girl kissing sene? unless its like a romantic way with sutley then sure, but if thay just go at it..then its not really my cup of tea or i think of seeing a likeable story.

overall i'm sure its a populer film for most fans (like film critics) but some of the characters looked abit off from the trailer. but still i'm sure the movie is ok and might have more then i expeact.

thank you and my apolages if my typing is abit poor.

I loved the first part of this review the by forcing yourself to be... not yourself I feel that you were able to give a review based not on your own opinions but a more technical aspect of what made the movie good (there wasn't much bad according to you). Honestly I would like to see more reviews like this from everyone allowing better focus on the true pluses and minuses of the of the film/book/video-game rather than the reviewer's own bias.

I actually turned off the review.

Basically all you need to know is, if you like B horror films, especially in the vein of Dario Argento you will like this film. Otherwise it would seem to be over the top and laughable in the majority of the film.

Nice review, Bob. Good to see you changing it up now and again. As for the movie? Looks pretty decent, if I wasn't so damn broke I'd probably see it in theaters.

Dude that was a borderline flawless ott British accent. A few tiny spots where your American shone through but I was listening for them. Other than that, it was an awesome review and I can't wait to convince my mate to see this film.

God, I wish this movie was playing at a theater within a hundred miles of me......

EDIT: Bob, don't let any of these other posts get you down. The voice was hilarious and just because you said "The lesbian scene is hot" does NOT mean you have lost all credibility. Any straight guy who says he actually disliked the scene for whatever reason, is just lying to appear smarter and more high-brow.

I forgive you, Bob, but yes...that accent was just awful. I was able to focus on what you were saying, but I was so relieved when you went back to your normal voice.

I should clarify: the review itself was very good. I would have felt you had lost your credibility if you DIDN'T mention the sex scene, because it wouldn't have felt like you. You're Movie Bob, for crying out loud, of course you're going to talk about it!

MrDeckard, I don't think straight guys who say they aren't aroused by lesbians are lying...I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of tastes. Not every straight girl is into cowboys or Scottish guys, after all!

Yeah but seriously, look how long the review is, and look how much of it he spends talking about that.

Y'know Bob? I think you'd come off as awesome if you just said you liked the scene, it played well with the movie, and JUST MOVED THE FUCK ON. It's kinda like how the only reason Jack Thompson is such a big deal anymore is because people keep reporting news on the stupid little bastard. By drawing out, and almost apologizing for your opinion, you empower the kind of comments and opinions that people (myself included) have made.

Wait, so my plan for Halloween '11 to be a cowboy with a thick Scottish Brogue isn't as perfect as I thought? Hmm. I may need to rethink this. I'm keeping the chaps though.

That accent was horrible. It hurt my ears to listen to it, and the British pronunciation lasted only for half sentence intervals. Please consider never doing it again.

So, Bob's bit about lesbianism made me think he may be under the impression that the Escapist's forums population doesn't like when he rambles on about sex because we're all a bunch of puritans. I can't speak for everyone else, but personally it just irks me when he spends ~40% of his review telling me that this or that actress is physically attractive, something which I don't really need a reviewer to know about.
...Yeah. I don't think of myself as especially prudish, and I'm not about to disagree with MB that women like Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, and Angelina Jolie are very attractive. But one occasionally feels like a movie can't feature any of those women without the review featuring a good thirty seconds of Google Image search results.

Similarly (and I have to address this in part to some of the finger-wagging "you make like he shouldn't have brought it up at all, you bunch of repressed virgins" defenders), do you get much from this review about the significance of the sex scene to the movie as a whole? Because I don't, really. "Duration to get to that punchine" indeed... If a little more of that set-up time had been spent talking about what it meant to the movie as compared to the lengths about how steamy it was, it would curtail a lot of the eye-rolling.

Which is sad, because MB actually makes a pretty good point about objectification vs. aesthetic appreciation. It's just that by the time he makes it, it's harder to take seriously.
