I'm not sure what's more depressing.
That the Oscars are so morally and artistically bankrupt that the predictions can be made with barely any reference to whether the film in question was actually any good or not.

I hate almost all awards that are ever given out to any form of media, because after perhaps the first two years when the creators are brimming with youthful enthusiasm and a genuine desire to honour amazing talent, they quickly devolve into pandering, particularly to whoever their judges and sponsors are.
The Oscars are supported by old men, thus anything celebrating anything traditional is honoured. An award that had youthful judges, and a largely younger fanbase, would be more likely to honour things supporting change and how difficult it is to grow up.
