The bigger question is why did they make another toy story movie, when their original audience (I.E. me) are now in their late teens going into their 20's. i mean fair enough if it was back 5 or 6 years ago but now? I think I'll give it a pass.
And to be even relatively on topic, maybe I'll convince the family into going to see this, they've said that they're in a mood to see a movie and this looks like a winner.
I don't think you understand just how easy children are to please. You can take a five year old to TS3 and he'll enjoy it as much as an Original animated movie. It's been proven though that adults are allowed to enjoy these sorts of movies though, Look at UP and Wall-E. Both critically acclaimed and loved by children and adults alike.
Well I don't know why it took so long for them to come out with TS3 but I thought it was a clever idea to have Andy in college for the third. The original audience, as you pointed out Darkstone, is now in their upper teens and early 20's, meaning many of them (including me) are in college. So it's fitting in a way.
Whether it'll actually be any good is anyone's guess.
On topic, not quite sure what Bob has against the darker setting of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, it actually revived an otherwise dying franchise (with Batman and Robin nearly nailing the casket shut) and was the first superhero movie that I know of that garnered critical acclaim and Oscar nominations. I agree that we shouldn't be trying to do this to every franchise, but it's a bit unfair to chastise the Dark Knight for other movie's failures.
That said, I agree with Bob on this movie, the A-team was just one hell of a fun movie and that's exactly what it needed to be.
