Escapist Friends =D

I only have two Escapist friends: one is someone who randomly added me and another is someone who friended me for posting on their thread.

I'm pretty damn sure both people haven't logged in for a while now.

I kind of wish the Escapist was smaller sometimes, its hard for everyone's voice to shine sometimes when there are so many voices, and because we get new waves of posters every few months.

Yeah, I occasionally do too, but if there were fewer people, would it be the same escapist or would it be a small collection of people?
The great thing about there being so many Escapists is that there are so many unique people to find and talk to and discover things about.

Well when I say smaller, I don't mean like the same 30 people over and over. But there are thousands of people who post here, in every thread I have no idea who like 90% of the people are, if that figure was closer to 40% I think everyone would feel a lot happier as the sense of community would be ever stronger. But then again, it still is a very warm community as it is. And even though there is so many posts and new ones coming in constantly, everyone still has the same mindset as to what the Escapist should be and what it represents, Respect for games and fellow gamers.

1. SwollenGoat (one of my first escapist friends and the result of a rather enjoyable debate)
2. Pimppeter2 (always good, just general all-round good)
3. 2012 Will Never Happen (I like his political posts)
4. TheNamlessGuy (I don't know why, he just has that vibe ... ya'know?)
5. Anyone who knows me (because they must either hate me or love me to know me and I like people who have their own opinion regarding me)

I suppose, but again, all of those people you don't know have their own opinions, their own thoughts, their own little friendships on here, and without those people, maybe the rest wouldn't quite be the same without those influences.
All I can suggest to lower that percentage it to post more often, get into conversations with people, actually discuss in Off-topic Discussion.

As for the add, it's part of my promise to befriend everyone who claims to have no friends in this thread.

Anyway, I don't have many friends here (I never seem to get round to adding people. No offence meant to anyone who feels I should have added them by now. I'm sorry!)
And of those I have, I only regularly talk to/with a couple of them. So, list incoming:
1) Tharwen. Probably because I know him in real life. Vaguely. And now know him a little better.
2)crimson5pheonix. Keeping NNIJA alive for no reason other than to amuse him. And that's awesome.
3)...Everyone else? I end up quoting/arguing with the same people lots of the time, but I never seem to actually add them as friends. Laziness on my part, I guess.

See that "cyber celeb" badge? I only keep it there to give the illusion that at one point or another, a hundred people have agreed with me so vehemently that they decided to befriend me. That way, more people will think my dickish tendencies are the result of jaded wisdom. In reality, I just added a bunch of people and they reciprocated, as I'd hoped they would. Hey, don't judge me, this was back when badge farming required effort.

Anyway, nobody. Except maybe Vanguard_Ex. That guy's pretty damned cool.

You add people and then you can always see if they are online. If you want, you can talk with them. If you don't want to, nobody forces you to.

You can add people from their profile page. You can also PM them from there.

Hmm... Yeah, explaining that would take a while. Basically, I've talked to you maybe twice (maybe?) in real life, and was then slightly surprised to find someone I knew (or, at least, should have known) on the escapist. The fact that you managed to work out my whole name from my username and the knowledge of where I went to school was a little scary though...

Ah well, I'm sure I'll run into you in September some time. Or I can get my brother to find you and repeat my username at you until you go insane. That would be fun!

On each persons profile, other than yours, there should be a thing saying "Add as friend".

That's how you friend people. However, it doesn't really mean they're your actual friend. Actual friendship pretty much works the same way here as the real world.
