This is why I love my computer.

Unless Sony and Microsoft can make their Motion Sensor Hardware work well, then they aren't going to get much of that market that the Nintendo Wii chewed up and spat out 3 years ago.

Is wild flippy hair Kathleen the new action figure you're selling?

And is it just me or did Paul go on a Rick Mercer style rant there? I loved it.

What Microsoft is telling everyone is to build an extension off the side of your house just to accommodate THE FUTURE OF GAMING!!!

this episode felt a little bit short but i still found it hilarious.

Maybe...maybe they want you to use Kinect in the outdoors? Maybe it's a devious, mischievous and very cunning plan to lure the basement dwelling gamer crowd outside, into the big wide world !

And i want to kill Cyclops too...

The part where he was measuring out the dimensions of a room needed for a Kinect gave me a headache. Granted its first thing in the morning, but still >___<

I'm also worried about the size of TV you'll need for 3+ player at time. I suppose for 4 players a 60 inch plasma is required to even be able to see a thing from the other end of your house... If they ever include support for 6 players it will only be playable in your local cinema.

hmm. It seems to have gotten a tad bit shorter. I don't really expect myself to get a kinnect anytime soon anyways. The price is just a bit to high and the is the fact that i'm a college student and have not gotten employment. The Economy in America seems to be jusy as bad as England's! Brilliant! but I digress....You know what, no i don't. If you need workers and live in the southern U.S states email me! XD T-T

Now... Imagine the Kinect being used on an ÜberHD TV.

How many people in the world would have that sort of space?!

Bahahaa... 'Altaïr Has fallen in the water and drowned.' Very nice. Though I think you spelled it 'Altier'... Funny either way

Excellent episode too. Short and punchy

"That's not what destiny means."

I was about to rant and rave on the definition of words, but Gram beat me too it in the last seconds of the show.

Good times...

Edit:

P.S. I'd hate to play the Kinect with my wife on my TV... I wouldn't be able to read anything from that distance.

What's with all the hate towards Cyclops? Sure he's not a cool as Wolverine or Gambit, but why do people hate him? I never read the comics so I wouldn't know if it originated there.

Did anyone at Microsoft even bother to look into why the EyeToy bombed?

If the mechanic is not built into the console's core design, it is, by definition, a peripheral. The only two peripherals that Nintendo made that were successful was the original NES Zapper, and the Rumble Pack. Everything else was either mildly successful, broke even, or failed outright. I see the Kinect going by the wayside first and fastest, with the PS Move hanging on a little longer, due to the "Me Too" factor from Sony Fanboys.

No one who wants the kind of games that the PS Move/Kinect will provide is going to spend $200-$300 for a console, $100-$150 for the peripheral, and then, finally buy the games. If they want Wii-style motion control games, they'll go buy a Wii. Also, the backlash from the 'hardcore' PS3 crowd so far has almost guaranteed that the PS Move is going to fracture the fanbase.

Look, enough with saying you want to kill Cyclops!

That should just go without saying. I mean who doesn't want to kill Cyclops?

Looks like I'm going to have to knock down a few walls in my living room.

I'm in Student Accomodation, I'm going to have to knock down several walls before I get to play Kinnect.

This makes me so angry I could just kill Cyclops right about now!

He's a jobsworth, by the book, taddle tale. Think of every middle manager you've ever dealt with in your life. That's what Cyclops is like in the comics.

I detect huge quantities of fail for that mutated EyeToy. Apart from the space requirements, who would want to play something without any buttons whatsoever?! There's a limit to how many tennis or Wave-your-arms-around party games people will want to buy.

Like most comic book characters, it depends on the writer. And in what TV Tropes calls Flanderization [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Flanderization], sometimes one trait of a character is exaggerated--especially by later writers--into the only trait of that character.

Cyclops is very serious and responsible because he really believes in Professor Xavier, the X-Men and their mission statement of peaceful human/mutant cohabitation. But most comic fans today probably remember the 1990s comics, when anti-authority antiheroes became fan favourites. So a by-the-book teacher's pet like Cyclops was naturally set up as an obstacle for live-by-their-own rules badasses like Wolverine and Gambit. Whatever interesting character development Cyclops had in the 60s, 70s and 80s was subsumed into making him a glorified hall monitor.

Yes it was :( and it was so funny too.

Apparently Opposingforcistan isn't a current event as sensitive as Afghanistan or any middle eastern country where the Taliban might reside.

Lastly I LOL'd at the Assassin's Creed Facebook updates xD. "Altair has fallen in water and drowned".

Pre-Orders alone say otherwise, but why let facts get in the way of hatred?

I, however, will enjoy playing Kinect in the only space I have available to do so--In the nearby football stadium. I hope it can distinguish people in the rain, though that's probably what the thermal sensors are for.

I also want Cyclops to die a horrible, hopefully humiliating and potentially shaming death.
Like having his visor malfunction in a hall of mirrors...

I loved Paul's brilliant rant. While I'm lucky enough to have a generously sized living room, the Kinect's required space sounds ridiculous!!

Great job, guys :)

If I decide to get a Kinect it would be troublesome due to my X360 being in my much smaller than a living room...room and moving it from there to my Monolith big screen in the tv room would also mean moving a couch to make enough space to play.

Really good episode. The size of the room recommendation was great and I especially liked the part at the end about killing Cyclops and that destinies are not chosen.

Yeah, and 2 weeks after release, how many of those pre-orders will turn into "Refunds"?

The Wii had problems and only sold well because it was unique. Kinect and Move aren't.

Oh well. Cash Cow goes "Moo".

Oh by the way, "Hatred", as you describe it, would have consisted of "OMG Kinect nd Move is shit LOL". I'm just stating a fact.

14ft living room? Pfft! Yeah, if you're poor. Now a 65ft living room? That's on your way to middle class ;) (Btw, upper class living rooms are about two or three football fields.)

The banter about Cyclops at the ends was really funny. From what I understand, he is a dick in the comics.

Bringing up the Game Boat was probably the killing point of the episode for me. If only because it's the most worthless thing to ever be marketed.

Two things:
1) My basement is larger than the living room as is most basements I have seen and/or had adult beverages in. It would get me out of my living room, which has a large window facing the street and natural light, into a basement. They are enforcing the stereotype so no one will want to play it EXCEPT basement dwellers cause it smells weird down there. It will no longer be main stream, thus perfect for the avid gamer.

2) Me 3. Cyclops was always the D-bag that didn't realize he was the D-bag.

Yeah, he's gotten a lot better recently. This stupid vampire plot can go die in a fire for all I care, but he's certainly a lot better than he used to be.

If anyone needs to die a horrible, horrible death, it's wolverine.

I love it when he takes to obvious that should have occured to the rest of us, like the space necessary for the Kinect. I will grant you, I have that much space in my apt, but that's because I have things arranged long-wise.

Huzzah being a spoiled rich kid who still lives with his parents pays off, my basement has a solid 22 feet across if you can avoid the sofa, pool table and dvd cabinet. Now I just need a reason to think kinect isn't a waste of time, space and money and I'm all set.

But Cyclops was my favorite. Sure he kind of had a stick up his ass but he was a team player and decent enough leader. Unlike that that renegade Wolverine.

Shouldn't Graham's rant about Medal of Honor been a Headshot segment? It would have been more along the lines of the format, methinks.

Very interesting measurement for the Kinect, there. Always nice to hear another reason not to buy it.

I love, love, LOVE this episode. Rather than just making fun of what someone said, they pointed out a real problem in the gaming industry- specifically the Kinect's shortcomings, and thoroughly explained it. What amuses me is that I haven't heard Sony mention this, although the Playstation move will be competing directly with them. This is one of the best examples I can think of to explain why you should get Playstation Move instead, and they apparently just missed this.

Excellent Work you guys! :)

I for one would also enjoy killing off Cyclops. I just never like his character. In the cartoon he was the best douche ever and in the comics he just never seemed to be an effective leader. It was more like yeah we only listen to you because Professor Xavier tells us to. Though he isn't the only member of the X-men I wouldn't mind letting die.
