Hmm, it still looks fun but I can't help but feel like the videos look kind of ugly compared to the trailers. I wonder what that was generated in.

My first thought as well. So, you can play the game but game-breaking cards are available for purchase? I hope that's not the case.

1 time use power-ups?! If these are obtained in-game great. If those are cash shop items, then you can 100% count me out for this. SOE thought of doing this for PlanetSide2, but backed out of the project because the majority of players did not want OR need such items. If EA were smart (and we know this is not the case) they will just scrap the power-up idea.

My mind also went straight to microtransactions, so I looked it up. Found this right here on The Escapist:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131645-Titanfall-Wont-Have-Micro-Transactions-According-to-Respawn

So unless this and several other comments made by Respawn turn out to be totally false, I don't think we have to worry about the power-ups being Pay-2-Win. God, can you imagine? It would be a total deal breaker. EA may be that cynical, but one would hope that Respawn would understand how bad that kind of microtransaction would be for their reputation as a new developer. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that EA had tried push such transactions on Respawn, but when your founders are the creators of the most lucrative videogame IP of all time (CoD), you probably have more leverage than a smaller dev.

Now here's hoping Titanfall and their new MS Azure cloud servers actually work on launch day.

Great report. No fluff and petty self congratulations from devs. Looking forward to this game, and already registered for the PC beta.

Who doesn't want to play fast parcour and peashooter to flak cannon size shooting with team play incentives ?

I am not hating on consoles, but if this is as intense as they seem to say, I'll buy it on PC. (sorry Xbox One) The main selling point for me is the mech action, otherwise it seems like any other military shooter. I simply loved games like Armored Core, Mech Warrior, and Front Mission. TitanFall takes it one step further by allowing the human to combat the giant robot. Honestly that's pretty cool. I'd want a single player for such a game, but that's not going to happen. None the less here's looking at a good release.

It looks fun, but not the system seller miracle fun M$ is hoping for. I'm still gonna wait until well after release before even thinking seriously of picking it up (on PC, of cousr

There are an awful lot of characters for a game with no single-player component. Seems rather unusual to me.
I believed it called the excuse plot. It just gives you a little more drive to play if you feel like being a part of something and not just some schmucks playing virtual casual paintball. Doom's was "these monsters that look like demons are literally from Hell. You can just run away. KILL 'EM ALL." I think it worked well and sure made me want to destroy every fiend in a level instead of just sneaking past the unnecessary ones. Maybe it will add more to multiplayer in Titanfall, but we'll have to wait and see.

Also, "Burn Cards available in different rarities." So if you're a fan of CCGs, you should go pre-order Titanfall right now! Wondering if this is will be the microtransaction component required on all new EA games.
SHH, don't give EA any more bad ideas. I don't want to have buy DLC via card packs and never get the rare good stuff. It's bad enough Valve did that in TF2 with those locked crates, but at least you could buy everything at a reasonable price in the store.

I think the burn cards sound like they're basically killstreak rewards rather than micro-transactions.

Aside from the general aesthetic I don't think this is particularly similar to COD. And anyway COD + Mechs - stupid single player and much faster paced gameplay might actually make it fun (assuming it isn't racist gun-porn were you spend 80% of the time hiding behind low walls).

Maybe I'm being too optimistic.
