Destiny is slated to come out next year on Xbox One and 360 and also PS4 and PS3, but there are no plans to ever bring the game to PC.

I can respect the decision of Bungie. Be vast, but manageable

IF I were to pick it up (currently undecided), I'd be getting it on PS4

Not being for PC is kind of surprising to me. The most difficult platforms to program for will be the 360 and PS3 compared to the XBOX 1 and PS4 which have the same architecture as a PC. Though there will be rendering differences on the new platforms, DirectX vs OpenGL, but the non-rending code will have less differences.

Bungie still needs to make it up to PC gamers for that disaster that was Halo 2 Vista. *shudder*

Destiny is coming out some time in 2014, by which time next-gen consoles will be in full swing. But Bungie are still spending a colossal amount of resources developing+publishing the game on PS3 and XBox 360...instead of PC.

I'm fine with a company deciding to stick with consoles and ignore PC's no matter what, but then they should have the balls to simply admit that instead of beating around the bush.

Oh well at least we have Titanfall to look forward to...and Battlefiled 4 as soon as the countless issues are fixed.

Sounds like a smart choice to me, especially considering that putting it on PC would likely spawn requests for cross platform play. That, of course, would lead to all sort of sticky problems that Bungie would probably rather not be bothered by.

Small correction; Halo was originally going to be a Macintosh exclusive.
Yeah, and not an FPS.

Well fine. If Destiny isn't coming to PC ever then I am not getting Destiny. Ever.

Unfortunately this is probably my course of action as well (minus the whole dramatic pause/period thing). I can't really want a console exclusive that seems to be targeting me as a demographic but actually isn't.

I guess I'm being console-zoned. (HOHO)

*sniff sniff* hmm it smells like. The texture looks like it is in the right area. It definitely looks like it. I ain't tasting that thing but I think I have enough evidence. This is BS.

There are enough options to get a game like this put on PC. Chief among them seem to source out the porting of it. There are plenty of companies out there that specialise in that sort of thing. Another thing could be that instead of making a console game and then porting that to the PC they could, I don't know, just make it a PC game and then port it to console, since they are already making the damn thing on PC. Now they could be shying away from the problems with compatibility seeing the slews of different systems out there and lets be fair that is a hurdle... but then they should say that instead of these kinds of soft answers.

I find it ironic that a company, that has been locked in a console exclusivity rut, finally being free from that rut, chooses to make a console exclusive game. A game that very much felt like their attempt to break away from Microsoft or at least the XBOX. It is really sad.

As a bit of a message to Bungie I can say: I played Halo and Halo 2 on PC and I enjoyed them immensely. If the other Halo games came out on PC I would buy them in a heartbeat. Destiny as well would probably be a part of my collection mere moments after release... if it came on PC. As it is though I have no interest in it. I am not going to buy an FPS game for a system that forces me to use an inferior interface (mouse+keyboard vs. controller).

no if it is not coming to PC its not going to get my money
besides why would they bother with the PS3 and 360 when the bone and PS4 are going to be the same thing as a PC just a bit lesser why not just port to console when you have done a PC version
and i dont see the business reason to exclude the fastest growing platform from your line up especially if its the platform you are using to make the damn thing

They really are wasting their time with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. That's a lot more effort than going with a PC version, which would share a lot in common with the PS4 and Xbox One.

No PC, no sale.
I'm baffled on why Bungie even stopped developing games for the PC in favor of consoles in the first place. Aside from the lack of splitscreen multiplayer and maybe less equal performance in hardware, I don't see why the PC can't handle Halo and Destiny as good as consoles.

They should have dropped current gen support and focused on Xbone, PS4 and PC.

Don't give me that BS about shipping or packaging a title. You don't need to send a single physical copy of a PC game anymore for it to be bought.

Why are you even bothering with dying gen consoles? It's stupid to put that effort in(it's a bit like cramming Andre the Giant into a lady's handbag) and then say releasing for PC would be spreading yourself too thin. Porting from next gen consoles to PC and vice-versa should be piss easy and not doing it is pretty much just lazy or a game that was supposed to be a console exclusive.

I hate being treated like some kind of afterthought. Rockstar does that all the time.

Give us the proper tools and we can make the game run on almost anything.

Can't say I am heartbroken, I didn't think PC was ever really on the cards for it.

OT: What's with the change on Escapist to autoplaying video? Autoplaying anything is the devil.

I'd actualy imagine that downscaling the game to run on the ps3/360 would be easier then making it compatable with pc, since the console hardware is locked all they realy have todo is trim is shiney effects off and optimise, it'd run with no problems at all. Doing that would also solidify the xbone/ps4 versions as being definitivly better and more worth the increased price.
which im speculating is the case? i actualy have no idea how game prices compare from this to the next gen on console)

As for not porting to pc well its obviously a stupid idea, i never understand why any company is willing to just ignore what probably amounts to about 30-40% of the entire market for AAA titles. As consumers we tend to hear all sorts of lame excuses piracy being the main one, funny how the companies villify pc gamers as pirates when just as many people hack and pirate console titles.
I guess thats another matter entirly)

I honestly think bungie is just gunshy about pc, after the problems with halo 2 i guess its understandable that they dont want to take the risk and instead stick to console where they can guarrentee high sales and good reviews.

How could anyone believe that, how could anyone put out a press release and say that, and not feel like a complete tool.
"We're total competent to release on 4 consoles but that PC ... man programming for the PC is *hard*. We just can't hack it."

Maybe they are uber competent and this was their way of telling us the real story as they are not allowed to speak of it. This is obviously a lie, so why are they lying?

The only reason they do this, is because someone paid them money to not do it. The Steam Machine & SteamOS are such a threat to the terrible "next gen" hardware (that can't even handle 1080p ... what a joke) that it's time for subterfuge.

Well, that's somewhat disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. While I don't believe it's a smart move to leave out the PC gaming market, that's their decision and I respect it regardless of whatever dubious reasons are provided.

As for what system I'll play Destiny on? Youtube. I'll just get my enjoyment by watching a few LPs and throwing my money at another company.
