[HEADING=1]User Guide to Posting Commands [/HEADING]

[small]Find Everything you need for the best posting Experience.[/small]

What is this? said:
I myself navigate the forums and find I forget various commands to post video's or images and had to figure it out usually by finding someone who had done what I wanted in a post, quoteing it and then looking for the different commands which usually took a while.

To make life easier for everyone especially new user's I have compiled as many commands as I can so there is a complete index at hand for you to use!

I have also explained how to use multiple commands at the bottom :p

You should also check out the New Escapist Codex [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.202272-The-New-Escapist-Community-and-Forums-Codex-Index] for the forums and community

Note: If it is not included - with the exception of perhaps one or two codes, that is deliberate.

[HEADING=2]The Basics:[/HEADING]
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

To make the words in your post appear in bold you simply type [ b ] and [ /b ] on either side of the words you want highlighted in bold, when typing your message/post - with the exception of there being no spaces between the different symbols/characters in the command :

e.g. [ b ] Your desired word/s [ /b ]

This rule of putting the [ symbol or character ] at the start and [ /symbol or character ] at the end, applies to about 80% of all post commands.

So It will look something like this:

e.g. {b} word you want effected {/b}

With you using [ and ] instead of { and }. You can also use instead.

It is important to remember to put the / for the second pair of [ ] to end the command.

There are exactly 16,777,216 colors possible in BBcode,[footnote]A.K.A. forum code.[/footnote] and pretty much just programming in general, but most of them don't have names. They are all assigned a value of three successions of a two digit base 16 number[footnote]Link to Hexadecimal System (A.K.A. Base 16). [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexadecimal][/footnote] looking like #000000 for black to #FFFFFF for white. The first pair being a range of 0-255 for red, the second the same for green, and the third for blue. Examples:

  • *#FFFFFF or White* <---
    *#000000 or Black*
    *#FF0000 or Red*
    *#00FF00 or Lime*
    *#0000FF or Blue*
    *#FFFF00 or Yellow*
    *#00FFFF or Aqua or Cyan*
    *#FF00FF or Magenta or Fuchsia*

    *#A4D323*
    *#742532*
    *#CC3CCC*

Here's another note.

You can use instead of [ ]. You can even use the together! (quote to see it in action) [/quote]

I thought we had one of these, but thanks anyway. I'm sure everyone will now post everything in fun colours or annoying sizes....

Good job!

For colours you do [ colour= ] [ /colour ] Inserting the desired colour after the 'colour=' with no spaces e.g. colour=green
Just a small correction, unfortunately for colours to work we have to use the American spelling of "color".

I beat you to it(although I need to update it : /), so search bar please.

Also [user]wilsonscrazybed[/user] has a BB code thread already.

The thought was there though
I did search bar it but no offence your title is so obscure it didn't come up.
None taken, seeing as to how yours is quite obscure also, you better bookmark it so you can post it when people ask, "How do I embed."

The sad thing is this will get buried, then new users will come and ask the same questions, its a never ending cycle.

The colours!!!

OT: Good job Claymorez, I didn't know strikes and underlines only needed "s" and "u". I have been writing "strike" and "underline" all this time

It should be ok I am gonna propose to Kulani a site map for new users which will hopefully solve the problem of the clutter caused by the tens of threads now sicked at the top of the forum. That way people's contributions can be indexed and not lost :p
