ESRB Spoils Heavy Violence, Heavy Sex in Heavy Rain

Well, there's a lot of hype surrounding this game. It sounds like it could be a good game. I'm officially interested.

It's a shame that the ESRB had to reveal all this, but at least they didn't give away anything too important (like the ending, or something like that). Plus, it seems they're taking this pretty well; Heavy Rain might just prove to be a landmark regarding video game censorship.

...and then there's honest-to-goodness sex: "The game also contains a prompt-based love scene (kissing and rubbing) in which players match on-screen cues to angle characters' mouths, remove shirts and blouses, unhook bras, and lower to the floor; a woman briefly appears topless amidst the dark shadows and heavy breathing-actual sex is never depicted as the camera fades to black...

Luckily for the ESRB, this scene will probably last a little less than a minute in the hands of most gamers...

Hmmm. I'm hoping this game isn't just using these things as selling points, but to immerse people more in the story. You know, an actual mature game, that expects the audoence to be mature. It's sort of looking that way, but we shall see.

So Basically Heavy Rain is what Fox News thought Mass Effect was (albeit still through their sensationalist prism, but the "prompt-based sex scene" is much closer to what they were thinking with Mass Effect).

No, that would have been Fahrenheit (unlike Indigo Prophecy, since the scene in question was removed from the US release). It had a rhythm-minigame sex scene in it, which sounds much more graphic than what they're doing here; it sounds like Heavy Rain has toned things down to God of War levels.

The averted view on chopping off a finger makes perfect sense (after all, if you were chopping off your own finger, would you want to look at it while you're doing it?). So nothing seems particularly new here. (Whether it's "mature" or not remains to be seen.)

I'm still looking forward to this game (though I would have preferred a PC version). Hopefully the story doesn't suffer from the same problems as Fahrenheit, though.

BEWBZ IN A MAJOR VIDEO GAME????? I am disappointed that some of the games mysteries are already spoiled... but this game is really starting to seem like a massive interactive movie that might be dare I say fun? Probably much better then the host of games I have been playing lately. Here is hoping that this game is actually fun.
