Corporations all across the globe have a major presence in people's lives. The terms and conditions of the employment they provide will determine the economic standing of a worker, and by extension their quality of life. This being the case, it is vital that corporations realize their social responsibility and promote the well-being of everyone.

Intouch [http://www.intouch-quality.com/services/factory-audit-ethical-sourcing/supplier-evaluation/], for example, claims to audit the Chinese factories of big-name brands like Wal-mart and Nike, each with their own standards. Being informed on how much work these industries actually do is of course important, so any known violation or inaction needs to be reported. If a company is to make change, boycotts won't cut it; those will only lead to lower sales figures and downsizing, which deprives the workers of ANY income. Ignoring the problem is equally unhelpful; buying a laboratory created diamond [http://d.neadiamonds.com/conflict-diamond] to avoid supporting conflict minerals is a very moral choice, but without income or social development will not improve the lives of the affected people in Africa one bit. No, what needs to happen is accountability, by making injustices and unequality public knowledge, That way, consumer actions will make sense in the minds of a corporation.

So read my submissions and please contribute your own! No one is going to change anything just by posting online, of course, but when opportunity arrives it's important to be informed. Therefore, post away!

(P.S. Anyone in the UK read Ethical Consumer? [http://www.ethicalconsumer.org/] It's certainly on the same humane, socialist line you'd expect, but do they actually conduct solid research? Radical agendas can lead to bias, after all.)
