I was playing Red Dead Redemption today, and I was trying to complete Master Hunter Rank 8 (killing a bear with a knife)and after being repeatedly owned by the bears whilst I was down, I found a lone bear and got a few knife shots in, but the wounded bear ran into a pack of wolves, who proceeded to kill the bear and then me. I respawned and met a man in the forest who wanted to shoot me after I knocked him over with my horse. I killed him after he shot me twice, my screen turning red. Then, out of nowhere, a bear appears and *****-slaps me in the back of the head.

That was the last straw. That meant war. Vengeance had to be mine. I was going to turn a bear into swiss cheese no matter what it took. I found a bear, poked it twice with my knife, and it ran. I wasn't going to let that bastard escape, I chased the bear for at least another 10 minutes, killing several other bears with my gun along the way, before finally jabbing it to death and skinning it. I had completed the challenge and killed the bear. I then changed to the Mauser Pistol and unloaded a whole clip into the skinless bear using dead eye, feeling a wave of relief wash over me.

So, getting to the point, have you guys ever been so set on killing something that nothing else in the game (or around you for that matter) mattered but getting them?

Yes, quite a few times. I have a tendency to form personal vendettas in online games.

Ah, the amount of sniper duels I've had in GRAW 2...

Edit: Does real things count? Because I have had some episodes with wasps.

Cougars. Fucking silent, deadly cougars.

If one attacks me, and I survive... I'm emptying my entire loadout into that fleabag's carcass.

Also, Michael Bay.

Firing straight up with the Experimental MIRV. I had to take out all these Deathclaws, even if if meant my death. Re-loaded and did it again.

There was a time in World of Warcraft when I rode through one of the areas I levelled my warlock in. I can't remember the specifics, but I know those bastards gave my poor little warlock hell, so I gave it back to them, and then some.
Of course, they'd just respawn ten seconds later so that took some of the fun out of it.

Plus, y'know, it's always fun to shoot out a guy's kneecaps in a duel in Red Dead Redemption, and watch him bleed out on the road. It may not be the same guy who kicked my ass last time due to unintelligible duelling mechanics, but he gets to suffer for it...

Monster Hunter Freedom, Azure Rathalos and Pink Rathian, In a dark swampy envirorment these two power hitters for the time you encounter them suck to fight. After a while though I killed the Rathian leaving me versus the Rathalos. After a long period of trading blows I tracked him down, delivering hits with my great sword, each one making the wounded dragon flinch until he died. Granted It was a bit sad, but It felt like a great accomplishment none the less.

Zombies in L4D and L4D2 often get that treatment from me. Especially in L4D where you can keep a zombie standing if you keep shooting it. Every now and then I shove a zombie against the wall and unload a full M4/Uzi clip on it, watching it twitch helplessly. Completely useless, but oh so satisfying.

And in WoW, those damned Devilsaurs in Ungoro Crater. They made questing hell for my poor little rogue (never thought a 10 ton animal could be so stealthy) but when I hit 70, the first thing I did was travel to Ungoro and murder every last one of them.

Horse thieves in Red Dead Redemption get it from me. Though before I shoot them multiple times I like to drag them with horse.

Anything that kills me when I'm trying to do something, especially when I'd finally been making progress.

Definitely happened to me, especially in Mass Effect 2 for a game, but in real life, I just love killing bees. Probably good revenge since that time that two bees snuck into my shirt one day and their third friend stung me, making me clearly flip out, startling the other two inside my shirt and simultaneously stinging me. Little bastards, I'll kill one any day.
