Whatever, just wash your hands.
So the Fables comic ip is now public domain for us to do as we wish with it.
Essentially, the creator, Bill Willingham, got sick of DCs shit and couldn't find a legal way around their contract, but since DC couldn't argue that he owned the ip, he decided to just let the world have at it so anyone could have a go at it, instead of an interpretation of it he didn't like, on top of some rather shady business dealings DC had to try and weasel rights away from him.

I respect the act, but has it not occurred to him that letting it into public domain is going to mean there might be a shitload of interpretations he doesn't like?

He holds out hope that there are more people with good intentions then bad. Plus he thinks that copywrite should last 20 years from creation with a possible 10 year extension if sold to someone else and he created fables 20 years ago, so fuck it.

Sucks it had to be this way, but I don't blame him. Seriously, what is with the comic industries trying to screw creators over? DC especially.

Appropriate fate for the comic, which was based on works from public domain itself.
