Failure of logic

For a while now, I've realized that I often tend to have failures of logic. I don't know whether or not it's just a personal problem or something that everyone does, but I'll give you an example.

Since my mother had forgotten twice to pick up this week's TV Guide, she gave me money to go to our nearby Co-op shop to get it. But when I got there, it was out of stock. I walked out, but I didn't want to come home with nothing and possibly face my mother berating me for not just getting the one available there, so I went back inside and bought next week's TV Guide. When I returned home, she berated me anyway because we didn't need next week's TV Guide until, well, next week, and she said that I should've just walked down to the next shop that also sells TV Guides to get it.

So now I'm back in my room, feeling a little pissed off with myself (and my mum for being a forgetful *****), and complaining about it on a forum to get advice, and also, hide away until my mother shouts at me for spending too much time on the laptop/in the room, or something else that I've done wrong or forgotten.

Thoughts?

It sounds like this goes deeper than just TV guides, but for general advice...

You're the victim of misscommunication and there's not really anything you can do about it.

It's not your fault because your mother didn't specify. She said "Go to this store and get me this week's TV guide." She didn't say "Go to the store and get me this week's TV guide BUT if they're sold out, go to other stores until you've found one."

It's also not her fault because she wasn't aware the store might be sold out.

Don't feel bad, misscommunication happens all the time.
We would have to be all knowing psychics for it not to happen.

OK then. Thanks.

Logic isn't the best tool for deciding your approach towards people, and especially not mothers. Numbers yes. Mothers no. Sometimes I wish people were more like numbers.

People still buy TV Guide? Seriously? I don't think I've even seen one in ten years.

It's the sort of thing you shouldn't get het up about. Everyone, no matter how intelligent or common sensical they are, will every so often do something that seems sensible at the time but in hindsight is remarkably stupid. Most people just laugh it off and go about their day.
