Fallout 3 Fast Travel Issue

Hello there. I'm back with another Fallout 3 thread. Terribly sorry, but my question hasn't been answered and I'm being impatient. Here is what's going wrong. I'm out in the wasteland and whenever I try to fast travel, the game freezes. I need to go to Megaton to finish a quest and whenever I hit fast travel, the loading screen will come up like normal but instead of loading it will switch to black and everything just stops. This happens in Megaton along with everywhere else. Anywhere I click it will either go to black or it will load the area for about a second and then it will freeze. The only difference is that instead of cutting to black, it freezes everything on the screen. Is there anything I can do shy of buying a new copy of the game?

A glitch?! In a Bethesda game?! Surely you jest!
That's about as surprising as realizing you need food to function or you die.

I personally would install the game and not use the fast travel system. Then again, I was on the Xbox 360.

Check the disc. If there are scratches, smudges, etc. cleaning it with a cloth, or take it in to a gamestore and ask them to clean it. For my discs I use computer monitor cloths, or lens cloth, and it always seems to fix them for me.

I'm playing on the 360. Forgot to mention that. Also, walking might work but I'm a very impatient man and I'm not going to walk around the wasteland for ten minutes just so I can tell some chick that I killed some molerats.

i'm afraid You might have to but a new game, for i have had the same problem with both Fallout 3 and Oblivion myself. if you want you can try a Disk Repair kit, It seemed to fix the bug with with my Oblivion fast travel issue (also it helped the load times become shorter) but unfortunately it may not work with all disks as it did not with my Fallout disk.

I have had a similar problem.
I do not know what causes it exactly, but I do know it's related to Megaton and the player house.(only place I could replicate the corruption)

It's easy to see if you have the same glitch, disable all auto saves and fast travel. If the game doesn't freeze your save is corrupted.(just try a manual save right after it) If it does freeze it's probably a disc problem.
