You seem like the type of person who wouldn't appreciate or understand Fallout 3's amazing story and dialogue. No offense.
haha, I haven't said a word about the story, you don't seem like the sort of person who can read, no offence.

edit, apologies my man, I'm only messing with a same sort of retort. Ya dig?

And yes, Fallout 3 isn't that good. You should play Age of Empires 2 instead.
Whilst I like both games that's a very strange recommendation for someone who has only mentioned they dislike the beginning of F3 but like FC2.

The first half of the main storyline is kind of boring but after GNR it goes on the up. Plus, the main feature of the game is how many places there are to visit. Put your exploring hat on and get to work on counting down those map markers!

It was just something from the top of my mind.

Actually, I had a nice time playing Far Cry 2, apart from the part where all my guns keep falling apart in my hands. Goddamnit, I'm not the Incredible Hulk!

you tell tell if they are about to fall apart by the amount of rust on them.

i do have a major issue with that in Far Cry 2, why is it that the guns never jam on my enemies, and the malaria strop outs happen at the worst moments, like when your being a sneaky bastard about to rip someone a new one and bang! MALARIA BOUT!

So people, I've got myself Fallout 3 and so far i'm not having a good time with it.

I've just met up with Three Dog of GNR and I still can't get into the game, I'm finding it pants, please tell me it gets better from now on?.

I put "unusually long" in the title because it still doesn't feel like i've actually started playing the game, the Vault is the tutorial for movement, Megaton is the Tutorial for using the compass and dialogue and DC feels like a tutorial in become accustomed to getting bored alot and throwing away all your stuff because your too fat and can't run.

Does it get better?.

Bother this nonsense, I'm putting Far Cry 2 on, that game is the nuts.... gun porn *starts dribbling*
If you got PC version I could forward you to a mod that lets you pick your history .

The gun play in Fallout is actually pretty amazing when you consider Bethesda made it, and they've only done primitive weapon fighting before this. Also there's a whole slew of weapons you can build, the Rail Road Spike guns my favorite not only for pinning heads to walls but it also goes "CHOO CHOO" And then the Fatman... there's just something about nuking raiders that's just so satisfying.

Side note... there's like 120 some odd locations to discover... along with a space ship.

If you expect it to evolve into a FPS game, then you will be disappointed... It really is an awesome game if you like FPS/RPG's...

If you liked Far Cry 2, you'll hate this game.
Far Cry 2 was much more point-n-shoot than Fallout 3 was.

My suggestion is to launch gratuitous amounts of mini-nukes off of Tenpenny Tower to kill all the guards below. That always entertains me.

If this helps, I bought F3 for the great reviews it was receiving. I played it until I reached Megaton and was really disappointed. It sat on the shelves for about two months and one day I was bored and decided to give it another try. I took up a few quests and got enthralled by it. I have hundreds of hours on that game now.

It somehow never really did it for me. I like the setting, I loved the previous Fallouts, and I loved Oblivion, but there was something about Fallout 3 that made it... not click with me. I suppose I enjoy fantasy settings more than I do post-apocalyptic ones.

No the gun play is not amazing in Fallout 3, its sub standard, I'm not gonna let it slide just because its Bethesda's first shooty game. Its very very bad.

Can I launch the fatman inside? i'm stuck on some raiders, stupid pricks.

I'm in the same boat, man. Though I'm slightly further into the main quest and I've done some sidequests, but I still can't shake that weird feeling.

I suppose "disappointment" is how I describe what I feel.
same here, I'm just not clicking with it, I purposely played Far Cry 2 first because I was told compared to Fallout its a very very bad game, what was Theo Samaritan smoking?

I've just got FC2 and am impressed with it so far, but I can see it getting frustrating. I love the fact that you don't get all the hints and highlights telling you were every bugger is but I can see that wearing thin. I'm playing on normal but I have turned the reticule on for a sneaky assist.

I find that most games are a lot better when you are not going through them with a check list...

Farcry 2 eh? You ever been to Africa? is a Vvery nice place :D

It does wear thin, and then you change your play style to suit each situation, then it gets good again.

The buddies too are brilliant, I had to euphanise Warren Clyde and Josip died from his injuries, I went mental when that happened.

Its odd, you start off disliking the buddies but after a few assists they become your best asset in game.

Its a good game it just takes a wild to get your feet wet. The game holds your hand, but you can eventually just jump off the main quest and do what you want
