People keep on throwing this all on sony, but honestly I think it's just speaking volumes about Bethesda's complete lack of will in quality control. They want all the benefits with none of the cost, so sony, sensibly, has to place ludicrous restrictions to make sure that game-breaking, trademark infringing, and stolen stuff doesn't end up on their platform.
its been the norm for modding communities to have zero no quality control, up until the point where a mod is a malware. its better that way. because quality control in these situations are really subjective. look at nexus mods. for every good mod you see there are 100 shitty ones where its a badly made model. but even those tickle someone's fancy. this is all sony's fault.

I'm familiar with the nexus, and that's kinda my point. The nexus is a 3rd-party site not affiliated with bethesda in anyway except hosting things built with their programs and for their programs in a very unofficial capacity. Thus any liability falls on the user. But with console mods, all sorts of stuff that publishers wouldn't want to deal with could happen, including uploading of illegal content (not just copyrighted stuff either) can happen.
End result is: Sony wanted Bethesda to police stuff on their mod platform, and Bethesda was unwilling, meaning Sony have to take these actions to ensure that illegal/console-breaking/game-breaking/pornographic content doesn't end up in the games. Plus, Bethesda's hardly been a friend to the playstation brand, adding more suspicion into the mix.

The wording of this particular section "Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work" always made me think that Bethesda was more at fault for the mods falling through than Sony. It sounded, to me at least, that Bethesda were going for an 'all or nothing' approach rather than compromise.
