Here I'm wondering why they didn't do it back in Skyrim.

Though Beth has always made fairly chunky expansion-pack type DLCs, so it's probably well worth it.

I should be wary of this, as they've screwed over the PS3 multiple times when it comes to DLC and I'm playing on a PS4. But I'll most likely get this. Bethesda is one of my weak spots when it comes to gaming.

Wait..They added mounted combat in skyrim? When? And I've been installing mods for that all this time like a noob...

Anyways as delighted as I am to give money up front on things I haven't even seen yet, I'll be holding up my metaphorical horses and try to wait out for the GOTY edition. In FO NV I enjoyed 3 of the DLCS after all (old world blues, lonesome road and the casino) whereas in FO 3 only one (the dlc that continued the story otherwise you always died from radiation at the end).

The worst part of all this is morons will defend this behavior.
And on that note I'm going to wade in and be a moron...!

Whilst the GOTY/Complete/Legendary edition will obviously be the smart choice for your money, it depends how much you can bear waiting for at least 2+ years for all the content to be bundled like this. Factor in the fact that all the excitement, debate and memes that it will generate will be lost on you and by the time you get to enjoy it, everyone else will have moved on like an arrow to the knee.

Which brings us to Season Pass. Granted some companies have been pretty shitty in the past with this in terms of the passes not actually offering all the DLC content (which is outright scandalous!). However, I think Bethesda have earned enough goodwill in the content they deliver. They are a company that, up until now, have typically released 2-3 major content DLCs as opposed to piecemeal alternative costumes and I would think that most Bethesda customers will typically expect to buy all the DLC. DLC that will reasonably cost more than the price of the Season Pass, so you are saving money. Given their track record we can expect decent content, even if none of it is on the drawing board yet, does not mean it won't be excellent when it is. After all - they are confident enough to release their full modding kit knowing just how much competition they had with the Skyrim modding community!

tl;dr - for those that want the content as it comes out I would argue the season pass is a genuinely good deal when buying from Bethesda. For those that don't mind waiting, obviously a GOTY edition in a few years or an inevitable Steam sale will be a better deal, of course.
