Fallout Designer Returns To Interplay

Interplay [http://www.interplay.com] is staggering back to its feet, with a flashy new website and a report that Chris Taylor has come back to work on a mysterious new MMOG known only as Project V13.

Of course, Project V13 may not be all that mysterious; by all reports it's the Bethesda [http://www.interplay.com/games/fallout.php]. And given Taylor's pedigree as the lead designer of Fallout, not to mention the fact he's cited as joining "other original Fallout team members on staff at Interplay's internal game studio," it's a fairly safe assumption to make.

To avoid any potential confusion, as Supreme Commander [http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=197781].

Against all odds, Interplay actually appears to be serious about making a comeback. It's banking heavily on its past catalog: The redesigned website is built almost entirely around some of the company's most famous past franchises, including Earthworm Jim, MDK and Freespace 2. But with the recent opening of new offices in Irvine, California, and the addition of a very credible name to its roster, Interplay seems determined to prove that it's not just messing around.

Good news for fans of their past franchises. I hope they reach out to Obsidian as well. Those ex-Black Isle guys were some of their best developers. While I don't want to see them take guys like Avellone, I'd like to see them engage them to work on some joint projects.

Interplay still exists??
Yup, they lost a lot of money though, but managed to hold onto a few IPs as mentioned above. I hope they'll come back good, it'd be pretty sweet :3

Interesting to say the least. I have very fond memories of many of these series and titles. So if they can capture that they might be on to something.

Eeeee *claps hands and jumps up and down* MMO or not, i'd really be happy to see Interplay back to actually making games again.
If they'd snag some extra Black Isle employee's, i'd propably die a happy person. Ah, a fanboyistic inability of logic, reason or scale. I've missed thee.

Uh, yeah, considering how the company was driven right into the ground before, I don't hold out much hope for a comeback. Maybe I'm just a pessimist.

Freespace!

What a great IP to launch a variety of products. RTS (ala Homeworld), Turn-based strategy galactic domination, FPS, and of course the classic but never-successful space sim genres.
