It was just a question. The alternative would've been to answer "none", and that would've been a boring answer.
You know what I'd like to see sometime? A linear western rpg that focuses only on combat, characters and story. For me the problem with the western rpg is that because you can alter the protagonist's personality at any point it just ends up being weak and unengaging no matter what way you take it, and because of how the system generally works the same thing happens to the rest of the cast. Also the combat tends to be either slow, even when there's no challenge, or seem like an afterthought altogether.
Jrpgs may have varied, colorful environments and character designs, flair and flash, but the writing is even in the best of cases so bad it's impossible to take seriously. Not that you need to take a game seriously to enjoy it mind you, but still. More often than not the characters are children, or in the very least act like children. Two of the most common plot devices are that the characters are too dumb to understand what's going on around them, or one of them does understand but then decides not to tell anyone for whatever reason. Although, I have to admit that jrpg characters at least DO things. They laugh, cry, trust and betray. Even if their written dialog and their motivations are weak they're at least gushing in emotion when carrying them out.
A fanciful, linear rpg with combat designed by the japanese party, a story written by the western party and character design being co-joined... Yeah, I'd play that.
