So, Fallout New Vegas will be released in less than a week and then the Forums will flood with related topics. Before that happens, I'm curious about as to how people plan to start playing the game. Since most people who have thoroughly enjoyed Fallout 3 have spent countless hours playing and replaying it on harder difficulties. Are you going to immediately start playing on Hardcore Mode or not?

Personally, I plan to start on Hardcore Mode. Just because everything will seem more intense with your survival depending on how well you plan and prepare.

I think i can handle hardcore mode on my very first play through. Their is also new perks in the game to make hardcore mode more bearable such as:

Pack rat: Items with a weight of two pounds or less are halved (this will be good because ammo has weight).

Long Haul: Being over-encumbered no longer prevents you from using fast travel (This would be good for carrying more supplies and getting to places to sleep and drink).

Hardcore. No hud. Hardest difficulty.

Lets do this.
I don't think you know what the hardcore mode is in Fallout New Vegas.
[EDIT] Wait, did you mean no hud and hardest difficulty ON TOP OF Hardcore? In that case I am wrong.[/EDIT]

Personally I'll start vanilla, then go to hardcore later.

Initially I was going to play normal(vanilla) first, then Hardcore after some scouting of the game.
I rescind that in place of starting Hardcore. Planning will be more important when you don't know were anything is. Knowing where stuff is beforehand will seriously degrade the fun factor of Hardcore.

I'm still up in the air about it, but I'm leaning HEAVILY toward Hardcore mode. Though, I'm tempted to save the Hardcore run for when I go and try to lay waste to all the other factions and lead the Mojave Wasteland to an anarchistic promised land of death, destruction, of piles and piles of dead ghouls at my feet.

What can I say? I like a challenge.

Nawww
I'll play through it on a hard difficulty first time, but not Hardcore straight away.
First play through normally to take my time and enjoy it...then I'll go back and do it Hardcore. If I do it Hardcore first time then once I'm done I'll get bored.

Hardcore makes it so you have to eat and drink right? And adds weight to ammo.. anything else?

Your edit is correct. I will play with the Hardcore setting on, on the hardest difficulty setting. And I will dim the hud so that it is gone.

I think you also have to sleep a certain amount of hrs per day like a normal person too.

Now THERE's a challenge!
Besides Hardcore Mode, I haven't looked up anything else about this game. I find I ruin too many games for myself because of everything I know about it before hand. New Vegas will be a total surprise when I enter it!
