Fallout NV Faction Armor... oversight?

Does Fallout New Vegas' faction armor system makes any sense to you? It really pisses me off when I put on some cool armor, and my reputation with that group returns back to neutral, despite being the only reason they're still around.

I mean, if you're wearing a coveted, not easily obtained, high-ranking piece of armor thats associate with a group, shouldn't that, if anything, boost your rep with them? And if you put on a regular piece of NCR armor, you become neutral with both the NCR, and Legion. Rationally, if you're wearing NCR armor, you should be higher than neutral with them, and less than neutral with their opposing faction.

I don't get this, why would the developers want to discourage wearing faction armor? That just makes you an outsider to the faction you're trying to represent.

I didn't much bother with faction armour :/ I found it didn't much stop the groups attacking me since they ALWAYS recognised I wasn't one of them, and all it seemed to do was make other factions and NPCs potentially hostile since they didn't see through my disguise like the faction who's armour I was wearing did.

forgive me if i'm wrong, but isn't the Ranger Combat Armor (a.k.a. the H3RM35 armor) the only worthwhile piece of faction armor in the game? and isn't it only obtainable by killing a ranger or looting an already dead ranger? that being the case, i can see why they might like you less while wearing it :p

Wearing faction armor makes you appear to be a soldier (or whatever) for that faction and not the holy savior of their cause.

Best explanation I could come up with.
Yea, but neutral implies that the wearer is undecided, whereas you should be considered pro-this faction, if you're wearing their armor (unless you're infiltrating or something, but if you are, whos gonna know?).

And the higher-up uniforms do imply holy savior, or some high regard.

If have real notoriety with a faction, it would make sense that they would recognize your face. I think it's the dogs and higher level foes who will recognize you. Makes sense, actually. The high ranked guys probably have urinal cakes with your face on it in their toilets.

The Faction Armour thing pissed me off. But not for the reason you're thinking of.

I really liked the look of the Powder Gangers combat armour (The suit with the NCRCF vest), but I couldn't wear it without pissing everyone else off.
