I find it odd that no-one mentioned the music. It's the very first thing I remember when thinking about Fallout. The atmosphere in those games is amazing.

I think Oblivion was a much better game. It was alot more immersive and lasted longer for me.
I was really dissapointed when they said that the next Elder Scrolls aren't coming out anytime soon.
I agree completely.

Shooting people w/ vats and Liberty Prime drew me to Fallout 3. Also, Miora Brown and the song in the trailer. Wasteland Survival Guide quest kicked ass.

The setting, the humour, the fact that the developers dared to use profanity and adult themes in the game. The combat system was a plus though, whilst a bit slow at times, it was hilarious to shoot someone in the groin, and read the description of exactly how my victim fell to the ground, screaming in agony.

Another major plus was of course the freedom to do pretty much anything, if that snotty kid pick pocketed you, you where free to kill him.

Fallout: The desire to see what all the NMA forumites see in it.
Fallout 2: The desire to see why everyone said it was better than Fallout.
Fallout Tactics: Came with the other two in a package.
Fallout 3: It was Oblivion with guns, I like Oblivion with guns.

The wonderful escapism to be had from exploring a detailed and immersive world.

And the Ol Painless, how I love it :)
