Nope, you didn't read that wrong.

THQ Nordic now owns the rights to TimeSplitters and today they've announced having hired series co-creator Steve Ellis to "plot the future course" of the TimeSplitters franchise. What that means hasn't been specified. Maybe just remasters, maybe a full on sequel.

Either way, it's the most life the franchise has shown in 14 years.

Aside from that they also announced sequels in the Saint's Row and Metro franchises.

I've got my hopes up too many times in the past already with each purchase of the rights each and mention in the news, only for it to go nowhere. At this stage I'm not going to allow myself to get really excited till the bloody thing lands in my lap.

Also, more good news to go with this, but I'm too cowardly to make a thread about it myself... saints row looks to be coming back, delicious squishy humans! http://www.gamesradar.com/a-new-saints-row-game-is-in-the-works-volition-is-deep-in-development

Edit: oh wait, I totally missed your last sentence. Sorry! Carry on!

At least someone owns the rights now and has expressed an interest into actually doing something with them, a far sight better than the legal limbo it was in before. Though I guess caution is still the better part of valor.
