Fandoms you dislike, of things you like.

That is a terrible title. I'm ashamed, I really am. Really, I couldn't think of something better? For shame.

So I've been reading the Skulduggery Pleasant (a series that I like) forums for some reason, and I've realized that most of the people there irritate me. Perhaps "despise" is too strong a word, but they ship way too often and mention it way too much, and... well, that's my main grievance, aside from a sort of general distaste, but really now, if shipping was an actual ship, the forums would be a goddamn flotilla. Several flotilla. A million flotillas. An infinity of flotillas.

They ship a lot, is what I'm saying.

So! Are there any fandoms for things you like that get on your nerves? Hmm? Do tell.

[small]Please.[/small]

[sub][sub]I'm begging you.[/sub][/sub]

Honestly, there are 'extreme fans' for everything.

Mass Effect has sweat odour theorising Talimancers.

TF2 has F2P hating elitists.

UMvC3 has people who use Wesker.

Devil May Cry has people who like Dante more than Vergil.

Really, you can find annoying fans in every fandom :D

Of course there are extreme fans about everything. For My sake, YOU have extreme fans on this site. Not all of them are insane, either. But I personally find that it's much worse when the majority of a fandom irritates you, especially if you like the subject matter. I recognize your point, though, and I bow to your superior wisdom.

Great Lord Daystar.

Anime fans.

I like anime, I really do, but sometimes the super fans just take it waaay to far!

Something I like, but the fans I hate...

Let's see:
Mass Effect: Geez people, it's just a novel/game. Chill! ME3's ending was bad but not the end of the world.
Bleach: I love the anime, casually. But I've met plenty of fans where I felt the need to face-palm myself through the head just to make it stop.
Vampires: I love vampires. But god, is there a huge fanbase of it that just really irritates me. And I don't even mean the twitards. There are so many awkward, heart-throb and plain weird versions of what a 'vampire' is, and all of them have fans. Heck there's even quite some people that really think they're vampires in real life. Yea...>.>

Basically this for me,I hate the people who treat Japan like some sort of paradise for anime fans where crimes never happen and random hot girls blow you in the street. It's a country like any other and it has it's own problems.

On a more specfic note: Madoka Magika. I thought it was a fine deconstruction when I watched it as it aired.A bit too dark for the sake of being dark and a villain who has no understanding of thermodynamics but a great show none the less. However most of the fandom treats it like the second coming of Christ and refuse to hear anything bad against it.

I know exactly what you mean. One of my best friends is a "Super Fan" (heh), and I swear to Me, she is a totally different person when she's talking about anime. That is not an exaggeration. Her entire personality changes. It's horrifying.

A lot of the DBZ fanbase is just bloody stupid. If I see one more piece of Super Saiyan 12 fan art or one more shitty AMV I'm gonna flip.

[sub]I eagerly await people to respond to me with AMVs and fan art just to be clever ¬_¬[/sub]

Sonic fans too. I really like the Sonic games but there's a reason the fandom is infamous around the internet *shudders*

In fact here's a fun game; go onto Google images and type in '[your first name] the hedgehog' and just marvel at the pieces of art before you >_>

Seriously? That's pathetic! 'I paid for a game you got for free, I'm better than you!' WAT

You should see some of the Evangelion fans. To them, there will never be an anime as godly as Evan-freaking-gelion! I think it's an amazing anime, but come on already. There are other anime shows just as good.

Apparently, one's inability to pay for one's FPS is in direct correlation with one's skill level.
Indeed!

SMH! Do you think it's just some form of hipsterism?

Most likely :D

I was paying for hats before it became mainstream.

Or something to that effect :D
I imagine all the F2P elitists are drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon and listening to bands nobody's ever heard of while they play :D

And now most of the posts are by Daystar and Hazy. Not exactly a thread derail, but it's as close as its going to get while staying on-topic.

The hardcore Mass Effect crowd... just stop seriously it's a game.

MLP... some of the fans are odd but they tend to keep to themselves so they're fine in my book. I don't get the appeal of the show though.

A majority of people who play Call of Duty. In my experience most are douches.

A lot of the TF2 community. Not because i'm a F2P I got it back in 2007 but so many of them are annoying. Too much ass kissing for regulars of servers.

I enjoyed the WoW community for awhile but it just went to shit as the years went on.

Some homestuck fans are just freaking crazy
I heard one cosplayer had a real, metal bucket, thrown in his face at a convention because his character got hit in the face in the webcomic.
