Don't really see the big deal.

For me Starcraft ruled in SP campaigns and online play on Bnet. That's where I spent my majority of the time. All the custom maps that I could play and such.

I rarely played Starcraft on Lan, it was more about Quake 2 or some other FPS. Oh and some car games too.

Btw Seeing how big Starcraft is I doubt the "No Lan support" will the be the ONLY reason for pirating.
Starcraft 2 will be a BIG game and it'll probably be pirated MORE than Spore just for that reason alone.
Lan would only add a small number on the already large number of pirates.

Also only like almost 40 000 signed on the petition. I'm betting most people signed like twice if they could or way more. Also if Starcraft sold millions and they only have 40 000 people signed up for it. Yea they are not going to damage Blizzard that much.

Not to be a buzz kill, but I've never actually heard of Internet petitions working...

I'm always open to being proved wrong however.

Hm, I guess it's understandable that they'd attempt to curb piracy by removing LAN.
To be honest, there's gotta be 20-some copies of the original SC installed on the school computers where students just LAN it up after school.

If they offer an equivalent, or even better, version of LAN that would require verification of purchase, I wouldn't complain.
