Far Cry 3 Trailer Arrives a Day Early

Tomorrow's Far Cry 3 trailer is here today!

We got a little heads-up [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/115830-Far-Cry-3-Goes-Back-to-the-Jungle] about Far Cry 3 yesterday, along with a crappy 16-second teaser and a promise of a proper trailer in a couple of days. And one day later, a couple of days later is here, and so is the full-length video!

Most of the video is just a setup for the game: the discovery of an uncharted yet inhabited tropical island paradise, a wee little hint of potential trouble that goes completely ignored, wild good times, then a heapin' helpin' of that foreshadowed trouble, and then DUBSTEP AND VIOLENCE, baby, because that's what the kids are into these days. Plenty of f-bombs, too.

It all looks decently Far Cry to me, particularly the dock in the opening bit, which could easily be where Jack Carver came ashore after his boat blew up in in the original game [http://www.amazon.com/Far-Cry-Pc/dp/B0000A1VER/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329328107&sr=8-1]. Aside from that it's not terribly informative, but we should all be fairly familiar with the Far Cry formula by now anyway. What I'd really like to know is whether Ubisoft is going to cripple this game with its ridiculous, always-on DRM, because I suspect that, and not this cinematic sell job, is what will really drive buying decisions.

Far Cry 3 is scheduled to come out on September 7 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and, at least until the inevitable delay is announced, PC. And for the record, I don't mind dubstep at all.

The Far Cry 3 trailer has found footage, dubstep, and no gameplay thus completing the holy trinity of marketing to male gamers 16 - 24.
though personally I like that they're going back to the forest environment
I like that stuff =P

Far Cry 2 was pretty great, so I'm looking forward to this, but all I can say to this trailer is why dubstep why

I enjoyed the previous Far Cry games on PC but I'm refusing to buy anything Ubi (in any format) until they formally apologise to PC customers for calling and treating them all like pirates and get rid of their nasty (pointless, useless, draconian, add any other adjectives you'd like) DRM. I've even held off on Ubi titles that I thought interesting that pop up in steam sales.

What's that funny smell i get from this trailer?

Hmm, yeah, smells like Dead Island..... just not as good a trailer.

The girl was kinda nice though. She was wearing relatively realistic clothing(Looking at you Lara croft) and was rather pretty. Just not silly pretty.

Please less Dubstep.
Still the villain still seems suitably batshit insane. I just hope we don't have to see our stupid main character's stupid looking hair.

I find it funny that this was listed below the article as "relevant content", and I have to agree. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/stolen-pixels/7265-Stolen-Pixels-175-Ubisoft

Hopefully this one goes back to the basics of the first game. Alone on an island filled with assholes who want to kill you.

Well, it does look interesting. Sure, the dubstep is annoying, but the trailer has a nice action-y feeling. Tho it`s only a vid, with no gameplay. But thankfully they`ve already shown some gameplay before, so all is cool. This game has gotten my attention, and I´ll be keeping an eye on it.

Speaking from a person, 'whoose' favourite game of all time, Far Cry 2... give the title back to crytech. Honestly we all should shut our faces and say its a trailer and we have no idea what the game is about. There is another one with gameplay... that was a while ago, so I expect it would of changed. But we can't shut our faces can we... CAUSE THE TRAILER IS SO SIMILAR S TO DEAD ISLAND!

Tropical resort
Handheld camera
Worst hangover of all time
People dying in dramatic ways and I don't care, cause we know nothing about the character/s
Overuse of music, either obnoxoius dubstep, or calmming music played over something dramatic happening
And most of all, the trailer gives us little or no insight about the game and not so much as well about the story

I guess FC2 was like The Dark Knight, it was the perfect storm, with all the great characters/actors and all the great game mechanics. I think its best that they moved on, I'll find out in September.

Yeah, why dubstep, I have no idea. I don't mind dubstep, but it's not really working toward the game's atmosphere. Oh well. I am actually looking forward to this. The plot is simple enough to make us care if they actually work at it a bit and it seems that there's going to be a real sense of helplessness and desperation. I'll be watching.

They really dropped the ball by not giving the female character giant anime jugs tho!

Damn, between past FarCry experiences and the movie to this, it looks like it could be a good game... Too bad it's being put out by Ubishit. They should just forego a PC release since pretty much everyone is going to hate them for the things they do that doesn't directly involve the game. Damn shame, I played the shit out of the previous games. Another release I'm gonn have to skip because the company is awful.

I'm going to be honest, I stopped paying attention to Far Cry ever since Jack Carver (and his feral abilities) were cut out of the equation. However, this game looks promising because of the nostalgia, tropical island, mercenaries, and another rampage fueled by "THAT WAS MY BOAT!"

PS The dubstep did not influence my decision at all, I hate dubstep.

I like dubstep, but it was atrociously out of place there. Dub-step's a sci-fi genre of music if I ever heard one, it does not belong in a tropical setting.

Still, it certainly looks good. I was fine with the second game being set in the desert, but I have to admit, Far Cry feels more at home in a jungle.

On a side note; if you dock your boat next to an uncharted island, go exploring, and the first person you find is a gun runner? You get off the damn island. You don't get smashed at the nearest bar. I shall find it difficult to sympathise with protagonists who are only in trouble because of such a catastrophically bad decision.

I didn't really enjoy Far Cry 2, so I was perfectly happy to skip this trailer... until I saw DUBSTEP AND VIOLENCE in the description. Yeah, yeah - you guys all hate dubstep, but whatever.

Got to admit, dubstep doesn't fit the Far Cry games like it did the Syndicate trailer. I'm still probably not going to buy the game, either.

"Ubisoft is going to cripple this game with its ridiculous, always-on DRM"

??

I'm far more concerned Ubisoft is going to cripple this game by going heavy on the marketing and make the gameplay and narrative as shallow as possible.

Well, perhaps they won't. That's the essence of hope. Too often crushed by yet another disappointing pile of crap.

This IS Ubisoft Montreal though. At worst the game will be a lackluster console port.

Am I the only one that after the dude said "i'm on a boat", went SHAWTYYYY!

And yes, less faggy dubstep, like 100% less. Electronic wub wub wub sounds are not music. Music is played with instruments, not on some shitty sound effect program on a PC.

According to... you, I guess?

I was pretty excited for this game back when they were showing some actual gameplay, but this trailer has put a bit of a damper on that. Pre-rendered, found footage, main character appears to be a douchebag... None of it is very appealing.
