Okay, let me stress this one last time, this thread discusses nothing but spoilers, so if you don't want to know anything about the story before you beat it, turn away now.

SPOILERS!

So... now that's out of the way, I have to ask... did anyone else find the final confrontation with Vaas a bit strange?

I've been looking up this matter online, and there's already theories of whether or not we end up killing Vaas in that drug induced purple hazed to the max confrontation with him. Some theories are that Vaas' sister - the temple priestess - is also involved.

The biggest indicator to this is the fact that after you dispatch all of Vaas' men at that prison, you enter a building, and find yourself immediately ambushed by Vaas in a cut-scene, in which he stabs you with the exact same dagger you were sent out to find for Vaas' sister, Citra.

Now in the game, it's sorta well made out that Vaas and his sister aren't exactly in the best terms with each other, at least on the surface. But it's also made clear later on that there's another man behind all the corruption and crimes that are happening on the island, and Vaas was merely a pawn - an unwilling pawn.

So, the impression I'm getting is that there was a bit of a conspiracy going on there. That Vaas wanted to escape Hoyt's (the real man behind the scenes)) grasp, and saw Jason as that opportunity. Both Vaas and Citra saw how fast Jason Brody was rising as a major player on the island and major threat to Hoyt. So, working with his sister to fake his death, they both drugged Jason and made him think he killed Vaas (in vengeance for his brothers), and then they set him up to confront Hoyt.

Now I'm not saying this was all planned from the beginning, but around the time you're (Jason) is made to find the dagger, Vaas and Citra might have devised this plan.

Now this is just a theory of mine, but it kinda makes sense. So what do you guys think? Is this suppose to try and set up something for a DLC? Was this all planned by the developers? Or is this all just a coincidence and bad a case of bad troubleshooting by the developers in the prop department (what I mean by "bad troubleshooting by the developers" is that they messed up giving Vaas the wrong prop - the ancient dagger - to be used to stab you).

To be honest I do think we kill Vaas in the game as your friends confirm this as you head back to his sister. Plus my theory to your puzzle is that the whole thing was made up in the beginning to try and prove how strong Jason could be come and if he is willing enough to take Vaas's place in the Hoyt's gang.

We all know Vaas is insane, but he does mention his sisters in one of his riddles, this gives a clue that maybe the island people aren't as nice as you think. Basically there clues and indicates that show up often like drugs being used on Jason or doing bad things for so called good guys which does not make sense.

One highlighted character (don't remember the name) I do think is odd is the so called undercover spy on the island that asks you to take down the weed fields. He could have clearly stopped these pirates years ago from doing these things to visitors but he ends up asking Jason to do most the detective work. This makes me think that he too might be in on this whole act.

There are many people on this island that have odd stories tied to these pirates. This does not make much sense and makes you feel that your trust with them might be compromised. The doctor for instance says he sells guns and drugs to the pirates at his house so keeping people at his won't do much good.

Denise also has his eye for Citra and truly loves her, so is in on the act at the end when either killing or saving your friends in order to stay in the tribe and be the head of his own village.

Clearly you can tell that both Vaas and Citra still care about each other and would rather build Jason up for Hoyt so they can be free from crimes than have to keep doing the horrid things they did in the past. As they are both pawns in his plan and they only want out as much as Jason does with his friends.

The main point is that yes Vaas dies but he didn't care. All he wanted to do was to keep out of Hoyts gang as he knew he was a pawn. The insanity of catching Jason and his friends helped him gain something better, a way out. The plan with his sister was for his sister to gain the island for herself and him to kill Jason?s friends to get his way out of Hoyts gang. Killing Vaas would only make it easier as Jason would be doing Vaas's job of either killing his friends or being Citra and stopping the gang for good.

Either way killing Vaas would have not stop Jason from becoming the so called hero Vaas was meant to be and gaining that danger.(Vaas had the danger to show he was meant to be the warrior of the tribe not Jason).

well ubisoft is aware that Vaas stole the spotlight in far cry 3 and although its unlikely he could be alive and come back in a far cry game, you were obviously hallucinating the last thing you see is being stabbed everything else was a hallucination.

so would say yes vaas still could be alive, but whether they confirm this and put him into another game remains to be seen. also you saw hoyts body but not vaas how do you know he was alive, dont take citras word for it shes insane.
