Well, my current favourites tend to change depending on my mood, but I'll give it a shot:

Movie: At the moment, it is probably 21 Jump street I rewatched it as my friend wants to go see 22 jump street and I said I would go with her, and I must say, I forgot how enjoyable I found it.

Book: Bad Pharma by Ben Goldacre. Speaking as a graduate with a degree in Biochemistry and chemistry, and as someone who works as a microbiologist, I find it very eye opening in how pharmaceutical companies handle drug trials. It is quite frightening really. Tied with this position is his first book Bad science. I don't think I have laughed out loud that much in ages over a book.

Food: Hmmmm... Probably vegetarian 5 bean chilli. I think it is absolutely delicious.

TV show: Breaking bad and Daria. Daria is a long standing favourite of mine and I enjoy watching it whenever I can, whereas Breaking bad took me a while to get into, but once I decided to ignore the science and just focus on the characters and the character development, I honestly think it is one of the best written TV shows I have seen.

Movie: Apocalypse Now. Part of it has to do with my appreciation for how well it took the story and ideas of The Heart of Darkness and translated it into a story about Vietnam. However, it really does stand out as a great movie on its own, and it really does a great job of telling its own story and getting the viewer to think through its ideas.

Food: Fish, especially salmon. What's funny is that I hated fish as a kid so much that I would gag on it. Now I order it whenever it is available.

As far as TV and books go, I can't really say. I don't watch a lot of TV or read a lot of books.

I'm not the kind of person to have a single favorite, but I'll list the closest things.

Movie: This is difficult since I'm not as big of a movie person as I am for other things. The Lord of the Rings series is up there, as well as Camelot (1967 adaptation of the musical), The Matrix and V for Vendetta.

Book: Brave New World, Fifth Business, The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Blindness

Food: Sushi, though only when it's good. It's not often, but when it is, I love it.

TV Show: I'm more into anime. But if I had to choose a non-anime TV show, Borgia: Faith and Fear.

Movie: Dead Poets Society. I love that movie. It gets me every time.

Book: Even though I'm a huge Tolkien geek, I'm going to have to go with Neil Gaiman's Good Omens for my favorite book.

Food: Either a gyro or sushi. Greek and Japanese food are my favorites.

TV Show: Buffy the Vampire Slayer! I'm kind of obsessed with Buffy and the spin-off, Angel. Buffy was just such a fantastic show. It had drama, comedy, action, everything. So good! I especially love the musical episode, Once More with Feeling, and the graduation two-parter finale of season 3.

There is no way I have just one favourite in each of these categories but for the purpose of this topic, let's just say I do.

Movie: The Time Machine (the 1960 film) - the old ones are usually the best. :) Introduced to this (and many of the classic sci-fi films) by my dad. Good times. Same goes for The Forbidden Planet, The Day the Earth Stood Still & When Worlds Collide.

Book: Pushing Ice - a book about a group of asteroid miners who set off in pursuit of one of Saturn's moon, that has revealed itself as some artificial construction and made a break for it out of our solar system To cut a long story short, it turns out to be quite the journey. I like stories involving people taking a journey, either by accident or design into far-flung regions of space, so this book was right up my street.

Food: Steak Pie - an old family favourite. Steak & steak sausage from the butchers, pastry, mashed potatoes and other sorted veg along with lashing of gravy. Unbeatable! Has to be home made for the full effect.

TV Show: Stargate Universe. I could never really get into SG-1 or Atlantis beyond watching the occasional episode, but I really got into SGU - same reasoning behind my book choice more than anything. Hopefully when we find our parallel universes, the first one they come across is one where SGU wasn't cancelled after two seasons. And it doesn't suck :).

Movie - Forrest Gump is a cinematic masterpiece, I can watch it again and again and love every minute. Poignant, funny and amazingly deep.

Book - This can change, I like a lot of different books depending on my mood. If pressed I would say One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest or The Optimist for the effect they had on my mental and emotional development.

Food - I am such a foodie I have to cop out, instead of choosing a particular dish I must choose a type of cuisine and go with Mexican food. Mmmmmm, menudo and tacos with a Dos Equis, mmmmmm.

TV Series - Tough call, I do like quite a variety of shows. I guess if pressed I would say "Hoarders" because I find the psychology of OCD interesting. That or the "Ultimate Fighter" because MMA is the best sport on earth and the show has had some of the best fights I have ever seen.

Movie: The Godfather -seriously it's epic, tells a genuinely moving and tragic story, the kind of film that you could watch a dozen times and find something new about it each time.

Book: The Hobbit -this is the way a fantasy hero should behave, scared and in way over his head

Food: Ribs with a spicy dry rub, nuff said

TV series: The Simpsons (seasons 3-7)

Movie: I dunno. I don't watch a ton of movies and generally don't keep a favorite in my head. I do like Airplane! bunch though.

Book: Catch-22, always and forever. It's probably one of the funniest books I have ever read and one of the best war books I've ever read (and I've read more than I choose to count).

Food: Whatever is in front of me. I'm pretty lazy. Asian take-out is pretty good though.

TV Series: Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It's one of the most well-made animated series I've ever seen. It's beautiful, well-acted, tightly written, and one of the best deconstructive works I've seen. For Live-action, It's The Twilight Zone. I don't think I've seen such an interesting and boundary pushing tv show in quite a while.

Movie: Dead Poets Society. I love this movie. Nothing fancy, nothing flashy. It's the script and the characters that make me enjoy it more than anything else~

Book: The Outsiders. I would put this as my top movie too, but it's not quite there. Ever since we read it the first time in grade 9 or 10, I have always loved the whole thing. The book and movie~

Food: Pizza. Nothing more to say than the fact that I can eat this for dinner days in a row and not be bothered!

TV Series: Code Geass. I gotta go with anime here, cause I don't watch live action stuff much. I love mechs, I love the characters (Lelouche~) and I love the universe. ESPECIALLY the universe. I have watched this entire 50 episode show 7 times. Why? Cause I can't get enough of watching Zero and his attempts to change the world. It never gets old for me. Helps that it has lovely animation, music, and some thrilling moments <3

There are some interesting answers here! Here are mine.

Movie: Dumb and Dumber. I have watched this movie way too many times and still laugh at every line. It is one of Jim Carrey's funniest movies.

Book: Game of Thrones or The Lord of The Rings. There is no way I could pick just one book, or even one series. I never really felt emotions from reading books until I read these two series.

Food: To pick one of many, chicken wings. Honey soy, satay - whatever. Chicken wings kick ass.

TV Series: South Park. There are only around three episodes I don't like and the rest are hilarious. Matt and Trey don't get enough credit for their intelligence.

I'm horrible at these kind of questions in person, I can never think of things on the spot. Thanks for making me think up some answers Strain42 :p

Valorie Curry. Wait... You mean this thread isn't about The Following? Oh well.

Movie: Either Usual Suspects or Boondock Saints.

Book: Silmarillion. ie. One of Tolkien's works that hasn't been ruined by Peter Jackson.

Food: Cheesesteak, sauce and onions. Cherry peppers on the side.

TV Series: The Following was good, but that second season ended. However, Suits and Falling Skies new seasons start next month.

Movie: The Abominable Doctor Phibes
One of Vincent Price's best roles in my honest opinion, and a criminally under-rated film all around. It just hits all the bases for me, horror, suspense, mystery, even comedy; and it's just generally a fun movie to watch. I hope the Tim Burton remake that I keep hearing about goes well because I don't want to see this movie's legacy ruined.

Book: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Not much I can say about this one that hasn't been said a billion times.
Don't panic and never forget your towel.

Food: Chili
I love Chili, all kinds. Red bean, black bean, beef, pork, turkey, I'm especially partial to Bison chili but I usually have to go to Wyoming to find someone who makes it right.

Television series: Gravity Falls
(Panty and Stocking doesn't really count unfortunately, as I don't think it'll ever air on American TV)
Quite simply the best cartoon I've watched since Ed, Edd, n Eddy. Fantastic characters, a well realized setting, and a very fitting and appealing art style with great animation to boot.

Movie: ummm........Star Wars (the original trilogy before Lucas started fucking with it), Serenity, The Hellraiser series, A Nightmare on Elm Street series, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Tron, Tron Legacy, Whisper of the Heart, The Cat Returns, The Cutting Edge, Striptease, Weird Science, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies from like the 90s, American Beauty, The Transporter (1-3), Crank, Crank 2: High Voltage, Les Miserables(1998 Geoffrey Rush one, absolutely DESPISE the new one damn you Russell Crowe for ruining one of my favourite musicals), and The Pirates of the Caribbean films.
Les Miserables 25th concert anniversary, Phantom of the Opera 25th anniversary live at the Royal Albert Hall, Evita, A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum, Cats, Rent, West Side Story, The King and I, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, Moulin Rouge(ok technically a movie with A LOT of music in it and commonly gets confused as a musical so I call it a musical movie), Amadeus, Tanz der Vampire, Elisabeth das Musical, Jekyll & Hyde (dear fuck not the abomination that was shown on Broadway I like the UK version and the German versions), Dracula das Musical, Notre Dame de Paris, Rudolf Affaire Mayerling, Romeo und Julia, & Sweeny Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (I have both the Angela Lansbury version and the Johnny Depp version and enjoy both in their own rights) Also yes I have a lot of musicals in German. This explains why I still can't speak the damn language but I can sing in it and understand what I'm saying-sigh-
Book: Too many favourites for me to feasibly list without this taking up an incredible amount of space.
The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galazy - Douglas Adams, The Divine Comedy - Dante Alighieri, Imajica - Clive Barker, Imajica - Clive Barker, [b[]Sacrament[/b] - Clive Barker, The Books of Blood - Clive Barker, The Hellbound Heart - Clive Barker, Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury, In Cold Blood - Truman Capote, Timeline - Michael Crichton(Fucking despise the movie though), Flappers And Philosophers - F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald, American Gods - Neil Gaiman, Neverwhere - Neil Gaiman, Anasi Boys - Neil Gaiman, Good Omens - Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Faust - Goethe, The Iliad - Homer, The Odyssey - Homer, The Collected Poems - Langsten Hughes, The Phantom Tollbooth - Norton Juster, By The Light of the Moon - Dean Koontz, Dragon Tears - Dean Koontz, Midnight - Dean Koontz, The Odd Thomas series - Dean Koontz, The Servants of Twilight - Dean Koontz, Tick Tock - Dean Koontz, Whispers - Dean Koontz, Animal - K'wan, Animal II: The Omen - K'wan, A Wrinkle in Time series - Madeline L'Engle, The Phantom of the Opera - Gaston Leroux, Serial Killers - Joel Norris, Haunted - Chuck Palahniuk, The Complete Works - Edgar Allen Poe, Falling For Hamlet - Michelle Ray, The Legend of Drizzt - R.A. Salvatore, The Serial Killer Files: The Who, What, Where, How, and Why of the World's Most Terrifying Murderers - Harold Schecter, The Complete Works - William Shakespeare, The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings trilogy - J.R.R. Tolkien, Mary Poppins series - P.L. Travers, Trainspotting - Irvine Welsh, Candide - Voltaire, Female Serial Killers: How and Why Women Become Monsters - Peter Vronsky, & The Devil's Arithmetic - Jane Yolen. And the expanded universe Star Wars books (fuck you all, they are still canon and I don't care what anyone else says)
Good lord I honestly did NOT mean for that list to get that long. Hell. Anyway, that isn't anywhere close to the full list. As an avid book reader, my likes and dislikes are constantly in flux.
Food: Pizza, Pot stickers, Spinach and Mozzarella Ravioli, & Quesadillas
TV Show: Firefly, Red vs Blue, Doctor Who, original X-Men cartoon (that started around 91), Dinosaurs, I Dream of Jeanie, Bewitched, Grimm, Pinky and the Brain, Animaniacs, The Twilight Zone, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Black Box are my current obsessions.

All of my favourites are subject to change in a moment's notice though. And I am incapable of choosing *JUST* one thing for each of these.

Nnnnnn...

I hate these list thingies because it really depends on my mood, inclinations and how I'm currently compartmentalised... which I am not at the moment... so, as the absolute cop-out answer:

Movie - depends on genre
Book - depends on genre
Food - depends on course
TV show - depends on medium/genre

...

Yeah...

...

-_-
Copout....come on if I can do this, you can...And we ALL know how fucking diverse all my tastes are. I swear just by some of my books someone is bound to judge me as a pretentious prick/asshole...though they'd at least be right on the asshole part....but seriously, you can do better than this....I know you can.

Book: Well, more of a play, but Hamlet. I love Hamlet, studied it in Year 11 and pulled it apart, and just the endlessly amazing plot, plus the ambiguousness of the character's sanity was so well done. Plus, the 2009 BBC Production starring David Tennant. Gosh darn.
Don't forget Patrick Stewart....LOVE the both of them in this.....Add this into my favourite movies as well... almost forgot I had it.

Movie (right now): The Lego Movie
I have a soft spot for Lego, in general... So, this movie was right up my alley...

Book (right now): Tales of Symphonia: Successors of Hope
Not a bad epilogue to TOS1 nor a bad prologue to TOS2...

Food (right now): Pizza
I swear I've been eating cheese and/or pepperoni/meat lovers all week so far... with only various burger combos[footnote]which, to me, only stern from the Burger King Whopper with just ketchup and fries on it to McDonalds egg mcmuffins without any cheese[/footnote] in-between...

TV Show (right now): Adventure Time
Frankly, despite during some of their off-years, Cartoon Network has never been a channel I would temporary not watch for extended periods of time until another "gem" appears to spark my interest in [the channel] again... unlike, say, Disney Channel or Nickelodeon, for [personal] example... With that said, I'm still hooked as ever on Adventure Time as well as basically most of CN's animated shows at this point...

Honestly, besides maybe book (kinda) and food (for the most part), I really do not have just one favorite overall...

Movie: Either K-Pax, or Dr. Strangelove.

Book: Titus Groan, by Mervyn Peake. (That would be my favourite individual book; favourite series would be ASOIAF, followed by Asimov's Foundation series).

Food: Lobster, but I don't eat much of that any more, as I very rarely eat meat. Halloumi bagel with rocket and mint sauce, available in several London train stations.

TV Show: Breaking Bad, or (for comedy) either The Venture Bros. or The Office. The UK version, which is approximately a million times greater than the US Office.
