Definitely dolphins, they're intelligent, cute, and just plain cool. However, if we're also counting mythical creatures I would have to say:

Not sure why really, it just seems so epic I suppose.

I agree with the dude who said pistol shrimp. I've heard the same thing it said there, that the bubbles reach the temperature of the sun... but I just wonder how the hell you measure something like that in the first place...

Prolly one of the tardigrades. The little buggers can survive stuff not even cockroaches would. Including exposure to the vacuum of space.

Also, Colwellia psychrerythraea. Because you just gotta love an organism which can metabolise at the temperature of liquid nitrogen.

Octopedes. They're cool looking. They can lift up to 30 times their own body weight. They can fit into a hole smaller than a tenth their size. They are able to break smaller sharks in half. They are badass.
Also, Cuttlefish are fucking cool because of their unique, chameleon-esque abilities.
Failing that... I like sea snakes.
For the record Octopedes is the correct pronunciation of Octopus in plural.

Flying fish and sharks. If we combine their DNA, then we could make flying sharks! Then, the flying sharks will take over the world!

Cthulu.

I have a particular fondness of the octopus. Also, sharks because they've evolved over millions of years into perfect killing machines.
Ninja'd

Mine would be Chtulhu too, but I don't really like octopuses :/

So it must be sharks yadda yadda yadda...

I could very well be wrong, but didn't Chtulhu live under Antarctica?

The pistol shrimp.

It's a shrimp that shoots you with bubbles.

With the force of a Magnum and the temperature of the sun. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKPrGxB1Kzc]
That's crazy. I was going to say the great white shark or megalodon but this little guy somehow beats them.

Whales! They're just so chilled out, it's great. And sperm whales have got to be the best ones, because they're huge and so surly looking, like they've got a permanent hangover.

Not counting extinct and mythical creatures:
Vampyroteuthis infernalis, a creature straight outa hell, even the name sounds like that.
