I'm very much a fan of VTOL-capable planes, like the V-22 Osprey, pictured here:

I just find the concept of a vehicle that has both the VTOL capabilities of a Helicopter and the speed of a Plane available in one package to be simply amazing.

I really like the Eurofighter Typhoon, really beautiful aircraft and the product of European collaboration.

I also like the Saab Gripen, aesthetically similar to the eurofighter but a bit more badass.

And finally also the Avro Vulcan, a huge old RAF nuclear bomber. Looks like a giant moth in the sky, and the engines sound awesome but i don't think you can quite capture their howl on a video:

I'm going to go with the D.VII, which gave the Allies such a hard time it was specifically mentioned in the Armistice that Germany had to hand them all over.

Honorable mention would go to the Bf 109F, before it started getting all fat, and the Sukhoi's, both the flanker and the SU-32, because it has a toilet.

Mig-21 "Fishbed"
It was a cheap piece of shit. but it was a dependable cheap piece of shit that works and is still used today.

Chalk up another Vulcan! I just love the futuristic look of it, it's like something out of Thunderbirds. Minus the ubiquitous deathtrap design flaw, hopefully.

And a line of dragons, for good measure. I don't know, it's something about the simplicity to them that I like. Although judging from the numbers, most of the force seems to be off on holiday somewhere, possibly in that Wii Sports Resort dogfighting game.

Sure you can, you just need to subscribe to the right people!

Wonkabar007 is awesome!

EDIT: Must be something about old school British engineers, the Hawker hunter howls. Well, only some of them do....they call it the blue note!

I'll be the weird and boring guy and say that while I like military planes I have a special place in my heart for civilian single engine props. Especially rugged bush planes from the from the middle of the last century.

For example the DeHavilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver:

Just look at that beautiful beast!

Well, for some reason I like UDSSR-tech (and with that Russian Tech), don't ask why, I don't know either.
So:
the Mig-29: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Slovak_Air_Force_MiG-29AS.JPG

and

the Mig-31: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7d/Russian_Air_Force_MiG-31_inflight_Pichugin.jpg

Y'know see a lot of military aircraft here and that's understandable, some fantastic aircraft but for me, I'll always have a soft spot for these... and yes you can call me boring! haha

Said before, but its badass cannot be over stated. The SR-71 Blackbird. That plane was way ahead of its time. It could cruise on full afterburner in excess of mach 3. Plus it just looks evil.

When it got detected by enemy radar, it's standard evasive maneuver was hit the gas.

Oh, the F-16 Fighting Falcon is by far my favorite of modern aircraft, I mean just look at the thing:

Beautiful.

Of older things, the de Havilland Mosquito.

Looks great, and was like the swiss army knife of the sky. I mean, this plane could be, and was, used as a bomber, fighter, recon aircraft and more. In a time when most aircraft were made for one thing and one thing only (bombing, fighter-escort etc.).

Another for the SR 71 Blackbird

Any aircraft who's standard approach to anti aircraft defence is to outrun whatever is fired at it has to earn respect.

That or one of these two British born babies

The Tornado GR7

I've always had a soft spot for the P-38. Blazingly fast, well armed especially the later models, fairly durable, more maneuverable than you'd think, and carries a pretty big payload. An early multirole plane due to it's great climb performance and twin engine design, and it's just so pwetty!

Big, powerful, with just such a cool and unique look to it. I love the Phantom II.

Finally, I don't know why, but I've always liked the MiG-29 more than the F-15, even though they are very similar planes visually.
