Favorite Zelda Game?

I'm not a Zeldafag, if you're wondering, and if you don't believe just read that;

I would like to say right now that BECAUSE Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game I played it WAS fun. Then I decided to try and be bold and play other Zelda games, where I learned the truth that

EVERY SINGLE ZELDA GAME IS THE SAME.

Oh, sure, there are little differences in each one, but overall they're the same thing! I mean, I understand why they try and make them the same, as in to keep the good 'ole Zelda blood running, but why, WHY must we always have to find the fucking key in the big fucking dungeon to fight the boss that takes about 30 seconds to kill?

But enough about that, let's get down to business.

All righty, now that THAT'S out of the way, I guess you'd want to tell me the first Zelda game you played, because obviously that's going to be the your favorite since it was your first taste of the neverending series.

Alright, I was pretty damn close to finishing Oracle of Seasons... the last boss. So, that get's my vote.

I've played all of them except for the CDI games. First one I played was the first one. My favorite is Link to the Past.

Au contraire, the first Zelda game I ever played was Link's Awakening, then I played A Link to the Past, but my favorite in the series is Majora's Mask.

Oh, and if you think all Zelda games are the same, play Majora's Mask and find out differently.

I hated majoras mask and every single GBA zelda game ever conceived. I even hated the link to the past port to GBA, which is wierd because its one of my favorite zelda titles. My favorite altogether is Ocarina of Time, even though the stories all have the same roots, I liked the OoT story much better because of the way it played out. But if we're going for zeldas I liked for combat, Id have to go with windwaker. the combat was just so fluid, so visceral, it almost made up for the fact that it was cell-shaded.

Thinly veiled attempt to troll? Anyway, my favorite Zelda game is Link to the Past. Playing Twilight Princess right now, and I'm not overly impressed. Don't even think I'll finish.

Then again, maybe OoT is my favorite...

My favorite, like many others, is Ocarina of Time. However, Twilight Princess is a contender for top spot, and Majora's Mask is only just behind (I Freaking Love the Mask system). Also, I really liked Zelda: The Adventure of Link, the only Zelda title not to feature "The Legend of" in the title, and also the only so called "Black Sheep" of the franchise (the CDI games don't count). And my first Zelda game was, indeed, "The Legend of Zelda."

On a side note, how many people actually know what the Legend of Zelda actually is? I'll give you a clue. You find out in the booklet for Zelda:AoL (Adventure of Link).

I love the Zelda series, so it's hard to pick a favorite. In terms of plot execution, Twilight Princess felt very cinematic without using many cutscenes at all, which made it quite fantastic. As for fun, I actually thoroughly enjoyed Wind Waker, despite it being criminally short.

I guess the first Zelda game I "played" was Zelda II, but I was 2 at the time, and I dont remember much. I didn't even really play it, I just did the first 10 minutes of the game over and over, because that's the only part I could finish, because I had it memorized from watching my sisters.

The first Zelda game I cognitively beat on my own was A Link to the Past. I still remember my entire family being stuck in the first dark world dungeon, because we didn't realize you could push a statue onto a switch to keep it down. Took us a week before my dad went out and grabbed a strategy guide. Though to be honest, up to that point no other inanimate object in the game could move independently, and there was no reason at all to think that that one would act any different (not even a subtle color swap), so I blame Nintendo.

My favorite is Ocarina of Time. Ironically, I just downloaded an emulator two days ago, and have been playing through it for the 500th time before I logged on. The bottom of the well is still as spooky as ever. Majora's Mask was fun game, but I was too young at the time to fully appreciate the plot.

Wind Waker surprised me. Being the typical 13-year old n00b I was back when it was first announced, I was all "OMFG the graphix sucXX0rz! Nintendo needz 2 die!!!!11". But when I finally grew up, I went out, and grabbed a copy from the bargain bin. If it wasn't for all the artificial length they added onto the game, especially that asinine 3-hour-minimum Triforce fetch quest, it could have dethroned OoT...

I didn't really like Twilight Princess, for a number of reasons. They ruined Ganondorf by turning into another generic evil for evil's sake big bad (I liked the wiser, but still wicked evil, Wind Waker version). Zant, who was built up as this huge badass suffered extreme Villan Decay 3/4 of the way through the game. The dungeons felt like a chore. I guess it just felt like an 8 game, rather than the 9 and 10 caliber I got used to.

twilight princess, simply because it had superior combat to other titles, I preferred the story (well, variations) to other Zelda titles, and link was significantly more bad ass

I should know this. I vaguely remember sometime about the original Princess Zelda under a spell that made her sleep for a hundred years or something like that, and every princess of Hyrule was named after her.

I could look it up on Wikipedia, but I need to test my memory.

What happened is that some time before the events of the original "Legend of Zelda" for the NES (Century or Centuries), a Dark Wizard was able to infiltrate the royal family, and convinced the Prince, who was the original Princess Zelda's brother, that she knew how to gain ultimate power. The Prince went into a rage when she wouldn't help him, and cast a spell on her to put her in a form of stasis. When he came to, he was horrified by what he had done, and struck the Wizard down (or banished him, can't remember). He placed Zelda in the Temple you always start at whenever you boot up the game, and made it a law that the first-born daughter of the Royal Family shall always be named Zelda.

Also, the Zelda he cursed does not age. The Zelda you save in the first game is different from the Zelda in the second. The Zelda in the second game is the Zelda from many generations ago.

And that is, roughly, the actual Legend of Zelda. Which is ironic, because the game in which you find out the true legend is the only game which does not bare the full title, instead just having the title of "Zelda."
