I know I've made some threads about movies that have come out years ago, but sometimes I don't see those movies until later, like the Rambo movies.

I just saw First Blood Parts 1 and 2, and I'm about to watch Rambo 3 followed by John Rambo (2008). I wanted to ask you guys which Rambo was your favourite.

I think I'm gonna say First Blood. It made Rambo out to be more human. Ya he's a killing machine, but he didn't want to start a war with that town, they provoked him, and his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder brought him back to his POW days. I especially liked at the end when he breaks down and recalls his experiences in Vietnam (his friend getting blown to pieces was crazy). I thought it was probably his best work as an actor.

The other movies didn't have that emotion portrayed by Rambo. They were good for mindless violence (which I like to see at times), but they weren't the same as First Blood.

Is it weird that It's Rambo (2008)?
Honestly, I feel like I'm fairly desensitized to violence but some of the scenes in that movie actually made me feel things.

Even in the end when he finally gets his revenge on "the bad guys" I didn't really feel like justice was being served. I just felt like "God damn, war is awful".

I cried when I saw the first Rambo movie. First time a movie ever made me cry. I was really young, probably far too young to be watching it. Later on I watched it and did enjoy it though, even though it's a bit daft it is good simplistic fun.

I never liked any of the sequels, especially not the third one (where the Taliban are the good guys - oops!). Haven't seen the latest one yet but something tells me it won't be great.

I think I enjoyed the lesser-known Rambo and the Chocolate factory, where he gets to explore the fantastic chocolate factory, now having been run by Charlie for years. I would also rate the hilarious Rambo and the Holy Grail as another of my favorites (particularly during the scene where, after the French launch a cow at him, he slaughters everyone in the castle.) Rambo: The Spy Who Shagged Me, however, was where I'd say the movies became a bit repetitive and where I lost interest.
