I am sorry, I just feel like we here in the United States bastardized the name America for everyone else in the Western Hemisphere.Don Reba said:It is not common usage. To me it sounds like calling Arabs Asian, since they are, strictly speaking, in Asia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_and_dependent_territories_in_Asia]. Russians are also not usually called European, even though most of them are.Richard Norley said:Technically. I find it the same as calling a German 'European' or Nihonjin 'Asian'.Don Reba said:Would you call a citizen of Argentina American?
Well here in Toronto we had ytv, teletoon, and family channel, no nick or cartoon network.Formica Archonis said:We don't get Nickelodeon? I'm sure I saw it somewhere. Not that I watch it; I used to get the US one on C-Band but stopped paying attention when they stopped airing stuff like Mr. Wizard and Count Duckula.
Though I went back for Avatar: The Last Airbender because that was freakin' awesome.
LRR made a music video on this very problem once: http://loadingreadyrun.com/videos/view/69/I-am-not-AmericanRichard Norley said:I am sorry, I just feel like we here in the United States bastardized the name America for everyone else in the Western Hemisphere.Don Reba said:It is not common usage. It's a debate I usually get into around the US Independence Day mostly because there is no country strictly named America. I understand the up and downs of common usage and how it tends to get confusing with subcontinents.
At least we can all agree we are Human... right?
Me too. Though I think I'm crying for trying not to laugh as I'm at work on my lunch break.M4t3us said:Yup, this was officially the funniest one yet. I'm crying from laughing so hard, thanks! X'D

The article in question was about herbicides, actually. Dude covered the lawn in stuff made for killing plants and just assumed it would know the difference between wanted and unwanted plants. I wonder if the guy would put rat poison in the Rice Krispies because there's rodent chew holes in the cereal box, but STILL feed it to his kids. After all, it's clearly sold as rat poison, not kid poison.ThunderCavalier said:Pesticides may kill plants? I wasn't aware.

That was both painful and hilarious, much like Alex's scream. Well done. The Random One said:There was once a man in Chatham

Actuallym if you notice they say ytv, and its true SOME nick stuff was on ytv but it also had a variety of shows and cartoons from everywhere (like anime). So many nick shows were never brought over. Similarly, some cartoon network shows were played on teletoon but they didnt have a dedicated channelFormica Archonis said:Looks like things have changed: http://www.nickcanada.com/maxben said:Well here in Toronto we had ytv, teletoon, and family channel, no nick or cartoon network.
And they say Treehouse. Corus runs all three networks... so? I'm afraid I don't follow the point you're trying to make.maxben said:Actuallym if you notice they say ytv,
