No... I'm not one, but my wife is. And not just with casual games. She is a badass at games like Rockband, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty.

Better than me at the the first two. As good as me and still improving with the second. I'm not sure if I should hang my head in shame or lift it with pride.

Are you one of these rare individuals? If not, do you know one? And lastly, what is your reaction to them when you run across them while playing online?

Dude walk with pride... your wife is into games which is something many guys can only wish for. Not only that but she sounds like she rocks at them which is even better!

My missus kicks my ass when it comes to SIMS, and loves watching people play Bioshock and even dabbles in a bit of Fable 2. This compared to a previous ex who thought gaming was the devil and I was addicted to it when I didn't want to stop playing to watch America's top fucking model.

My girlfriend and I have recently started playing Oblivion. We both have our own characters, and we casually take turns and watch each other play and stuff like that. It's fun, I'm grateful and it makes it easy to spend time together.

Be proud man, be proud.

Well there's me, I don't see why people hype about it, I mean, I'm just an average person.

Let me guess,she was republican.

Hahah no, but close... I'm from Rep. of Ireland which has a large catholic influence.

What i always find funny is that the bible is twice as violent as most games and sitting on a couch rotting one's brain watching soap operas and reality shows is considered a more constructive passtime than games, where you use your brain and develop your reflexes.

Hi everyone. =)

I'm a girl, and I play games. I don't actually know any other girls that play games other than playing something along the lines High School Musical Dance or whatever it was for the Wii!

I'm a music games player myself - I've completed all of the guitar hero / rock band games on Expert, now I'm getting into shooter games. Gears of War is my favourite at the moment. Recently played through GTA IV which I enjoyed too. I think it's great when you can play games with your boyfriend, partner or whatever, means there's no arguing about what's on the tv and means you can do something together! Unless it involves co-op mode. Then the arguments start! :p

In a perfect world nobody would think anything of it, but when the wife is playing online, she can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone whose head is about to explode. It seems like every game we join has at least one person who either:

a. becomes socially awkward, losing the ability to form coherent sentences and/or stops talking altogether.

b. tries to hit on her (not counting the ones who are obviously just joking)

c. becomes a complete douchebag and dedicates the entire game to shit talk, team killing, and other forms of douchebaggery. <--- you wouldn't believe how common this type is.

Don't get me wrong. Most people are cool about it and quite often end up on our friends list. Though they are often disappointed when I go to game by myself and they find out that the current user of the gamertag has a Y chromosome.

The only times I'm ever shamed (not often since I rarely take the game seriously enough) is when we're taking turns, and after I have a go, my brothers in arms tell me to put the wife back on so that they can win a round D:

You're telling me about the either getting hit on or flamed thing... Normally flamed... Especially beaten by a girl. I don't see the deal with it personally!

All of the women i know are hardcore gamers. Most of them can't beat me or are at my skill level but a few can kick my ass in certain games. I never actually knew that female gamers were rare.

Oh and you should be proud.

I only had a handful of friends till she started playing. Now our list is full and most of them enjoy playing with me too. It's a perk to be sure.

Lift it with pride.

It's a rarity to find a woman with the same intrests as you, the more time you spend together the better.

Treasure the moments.

None of my friends are that much into games, with a couple of exceptions, as much as I am.

That's why I turn to you guys. Rock on.

Hi. Girl gamer here.

My friends got me started on Gears of War, but they kinda treat me like I'm too incompetent to understand where the trigger button is. "Just get down and I'll shoot at everything."

I admit, I like RPGs a bit more than anything (oh, god, Hotel Dusk...). But, that's because I'm too poor to buy any new platforms or the games. I borrowed a DS to play Hotel Dusk. The most "up-to-date" (if that's what you can call it) platform I currently own is a NES, but that's because my sister stole my PS2.

I also admit that I have tried to play free MMO's. I played Rising Force Online until the servers went down and my ex broke up with me because I asked him to get the hell off my computer so I could play or do what I do on the internet.

But, I digress. We exist. We aren't rare creatures. We're just hiding in our houses waiting for whatever new game we're into to come out because we're beating our heads senseless against a TV because we've already beaten everything else.
