Fetish being your sexuality?

Alright, I guess it's time for another "weird sex" thread. Why? Because I say so. And I'm bored. It's just something that I felt like talking about after reading a random comic.

Do you know anyone whose fetishes or primary sexual fetish happen to be their entire sexuality? As in, the only or most satisfactory way they can get off? Or are you one of these people yourself? I can't think of any examples in the media, other than the obligatory paedophiles that get done for child molestation, child porn, or whatever.

I have a friend who's pretty into S&M...he tried to break up with his girlfriend and she decided to find a chain and start choking him with it, which he must have found nice. And one of my exes used to be really into rape fantasies to the point where it got slightly obsessive.

There are a great deal of people whose fetish is just about the entirety of their sexuality. I think you could argue that being gay could be considered a fetish. I don't think most people care to think of it that way but it is essentially.

I'm one of those people. I'm really into the whole BDSM thing. Particularly Pony play...

So much in fact that when I lost my virginity it was hard (Pardon the pun) to keep it up because we were doing it "Vanilla"

It's pretty much the only way I can get off.

Um, no.

Psychology . any object or nongenital part of the body that causes a habitual erotic response or fixation.
It's not that "essentially" at all. You can have a foot fetish, or a shoe fetish, or a uniform fetish, or a food fetish, or a leather fetish.

You can't have a "man fetish".

It is true that by the actual definition you need a physical object for it to be a fetish but their are tons of things people call fetishes out there that are not based around physical objects. Fat, Giant, Necro, Spanking etc. What would you label these as?

As exhibit A I present myself, for better or worse one of my fetishes is pretty much my sexuality (the only thing I fantasize / get off to), although I have several secondary ones which are more optional. What my fetish actually is, well I'm not going to put that in a public forum now am I?

I would probably use a more generalized term such as "kink".

I am aware that fetish is often colloquially abused to encompass things that do not quite fit its literal definition, but I'd hesitate to try and stretch it so far as to apply it to homosexuality. One, because I think it's a gross misuse of the word, and two because it would set off an absolute shit-storm to collate sexual identity with a sexual peccadillo like "I'm really into balloons".

I agree actually mind you that is why I said "could argue" and "essentially" I was more trying to say it is debatable not necessarily true. I generally associate the word kink and fetish but it is a good point they are different well said. I wouldn't call it a gross misuse but I do know some people will freak out at the comparison. This is what the thread is all about though kinks go beyond simple wooo I like this and they do in fact make up a large if not entire part of peoples sexuality just the same as being gay does. Even that being said being gay doesn't mean your exclusively into the same gender there are lots of bi people out there too. This is without getting into the whole kinsey scale.

Either way if you don't think of it that way that is cool but keep in mind many peoples fetishes or kinks are/can be just as big a part of their sexuality as any gay persons sexual preferences.

No, fair enough. I'm not trying to shame anyone about their kinks. I have some extremely significant kinks myself which constitute fairly large portions of my sexual identity (which I will not be sharing HERE, that's for certain), but I think I'd hesitate to give them equal billing with my sexuality. I can see a genesis for my kinks. I can see the roots of them. I was born likin' girls.

I though everything was a fetish ? Heterosexuality is a fetish , homsosexuality is a fetish , bi-sexuality is a fetish , and all those " fetishes " are fetishes . That would make asexuals the only one with no fetish . Or so i heard .

While I have never met someone who has a fetish over it, given rule 34 I am SURE there is someone with a fetish for [near] asexuality out there somewhere.

EDIT: Oh, wait. If we can go by what the fetishs of our friends are, then two of my friends have fetishes. My girlfriend, while still technically Asexual like me, is into Yaoi, and will read the lemon fanfics that are....and refuses to have sex until married and while make her kids do the same thing. Another one of my friends is into Fota (did I spell that right) and is a self-discribed pervert....who thinks that sex should be reserved until you are married and only with the one you are married to. But neither of them are controlled by thier fetishes, so......

Well, I do have a fetish for characters in porn being obviously bored and unresponsive while doing it. Does that count?

I think the word for that is dandere.

OT: erm, I don't think I know anyone like that. I do know a guy who is really into kemonomimi. I don't know if its just that or what but he really likes them cat girls

Um... no. I mean I kinda have a thing for those cute Japanese schoolgirl outfits, but I wouldn't base my whole sexuality around it.

How about leave defining homosexuality for those who actually know what they're talking about or - shocking idea - who actually are gay. Kay? Thanks.

Yes, I know you used shield words like "essentially" and "could" but that doesn't make your post any less insulting.

Well unless, like KrazyKid, you also intend to label heterosexuality as a fetish. In which case, to misquote the Incredibles, when everything is a fetish, nothing is.

Btw, Studies showed that what often is considered as a "foot fetish" is actually none.
Feet are globaly liked as common as TnA.

I've alot of weird kinks i'd say, but none of them defines my sexuality. Actually it's the sum of all diffrent strange preferences that form my sexuality.

I kind of like some Domination and Submission stuff, but I hate leather. It feels wrong, and it doesn't breathe. Just wear casual, or business attire.
I also hate really tall heels and exaggerated boots. They're just too cheesy.

However, I did know a rather kinky lesbian couple at one point.
The "submissive" girl really liked being whipped and stuff, to an uncomfortable degree. Eventually, it came out that when she was a teenager she felt like the only acceptable avenue for exploring her sexuality was being hazed by her softball team, and later her sorority sisters. Even after she felt comfortable enough to come out, she still felt like being humiliated and the like was a part of the experience for her. Eventually, she started to walk away from that sort of stuff, came out to her parents (finally) and is now one of the most vanilla people you'll ever meet.
Weird how that can happen to people, you know? Homophobia sucks
