Fictional Feathers

I'm working on a lil project, and I need some inspiration.

In all fiction, there are certain unique birds that have unique feathers that one look tells you who they belong to.

Examples:
-Pokemon - Silver, Rainbow, Lunar Wing.
-Final Fantasy: Phoenix Down
-Tsubasa
-Yu-gi-oh cards

Can anyone think of any more iconic feathers? Feathers as game items are welcome

Then there's the symbolic feather that Dumbo receives in both movies- kinda funny how it's literally whitewashed in the remake.

BK has red and gold feathers for flight and invincibility respectively.

Beside that there's tan Chocobo feathers. I always thought Tidus' hair kind of looks like those feathers, hence my nickname for him: 'Chocobo head'.

Much more obscure would be the pure white feather of death that appears when what is normally the most powerful attack in an SMT game, Megidoladyne, gets used, representing Lucifer's lost angel wings.

Both in a symbolic way and as a plot device, and a part of the gameplay.

In Iranian mythology, there's a creature known as the Simurgh. She's a gigantic bird so ancient as to have seen the rebirth of the world three times over. As a consequence of this, she's immensely wise and benevolent.

In the myth of Shahnameh, the Simurgh adopts and raises an infant who was abandoned on the mountainside. As is the nature of such stories, when he grew up the young man wanted to return to the world of man. Though saddened, the Simurgh agreed and gifted him with three feathers, which he was to burn if ever he needed help. He eventually does so when he's fearful that his wife was about to die in childbirth. This summoned the Simurgh and she taught him how to perform a C-section, thereby saving his wife and their new child.

Thank you very much for all your ideas! I will track them all down and learn more.

My project is sortof a design element... ie.. I'm trying to create my *own* fictional feather, and was trying to see how others had done. So I'm trying to literally look at such types of things.

And I'm only now just realizing there is a YGO card called Simurgh.

Wings also feature somewhat prominently in Final Fantasy VIII, mostly connected to sorceresses. Rinoa's are an angelic white and are further reflected in her ultimate weapon Shooting Star. She also has the design of stylized wings on the back of her vest. The aforementioned angelic appearance is contrasted by Ultimecia's wings, which have a black and wilted appearance.

Things start to get interesting however, when Ultimecia creates Griever to fight for her as the "ultimate guardian force". Griver curiously has wings with a bat-like structure but bird-like feathers instead of membranes. But probably the best stylized wings in the game are associated with Adel, who...basically just has vaguely winglike spikes for wings. But then there's also her tomb's winglike appearance, which has almost a liquid metal look to it.

Gah. The trouble is, yah, there's plenty of "appearances" of Phoenices, but I'm trying to find how they are depicted.

It's like I got this one picture in my head somehow that I had seen somewhere, perhaps nonsensically, that the feather itself looked or bore a resemblance to the bird that left it...

You're forgetting the most (in)famous video game depiction of feathers... the ^$?*%$*%$ing ones Ezio has to collect in Assassin's Creed 2.

Batou's being sarcastic. The feathers in Assassin's Creed 2 are just normal (pigeon?) feathers that Ezio's brother asks him to collect for some secret project, and after that brother's death it's a way of trying to help his despondent mother out of her grief. There are 100 feathers scattered across the game in hard to reach locations, and your reward for collecting them is the Auditore cape...which artificially keeps your notoriety at max so every guard will attack you on sight (no joke, that's the actual function).
