Fictional Shia LaBeouf DLC Announced For Sonic Generations Via Hilarious Video

Shia to Sonic: "Do it."

The world is likely more than familiar with the viral balconies [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuHfVn_cfHU]. But now, an official game's YouTube channel has released an official video of Shia LaBeouf incorporated into their official game. Officially.

In what can only be described as an act of marketing brilliance, Sega of America and Ayzenberg Group have teamed up to capitalize on this month old internet meme, potentially as part of that re-branding Sega president Hajime Satomi promised earlier this month [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/141496-Sega-President-Says-He-Betrayed-Fans-Trust].

The video was posted on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel Tuesday, garnering more than 250,000 views within two days of its appearance.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Yes, my friends. This is real life.

"We've just released a new (fictional) DLC for Sonic Generations that adds actual cannibal Shia LaBeouf into one of the game's final cutscenes," the video description reads. "Don't let your dreams be dreams."

"Sonic the Hedgehog's official social channels have brought together a final scene from Sonic Generations and Shia LaBeouf's outrageous motivational video to create something truly special," a representative from Ayzenberg Group said. "In the video, just as Dr. Eggman prepares to defeat a weary Sonic-while Knuckles, Tails, and the rest of the team plead him to keep going-in the end it's Shia who, in the weirdest way possible, motivates our hero to fight on."

"With the return of the hit series Sonic Boom hitting Cartoon Network earlier this week and the new Sonic Boom title for Nintendo 3DS, Fire & Ice just announced at E3, Sonic and his team are slated for big things."

If I know one thing from my time internetting, it is that there are people who are going to actually want this DLC to be a real thing.

Just... just do it.

....I've read this article like 5 times and I still don't know if this is a win or a fail...

Have to admit, if they are going to rebrand, as least they know the internet is a thing.
Now, for the DLC for all the "Wonderful Fan Art"...THAT would be interesting.

Overall it's pretty good. I'd say a win up until that last bit when they mention "Sonic Boom" and "Hit series" in the same sentence without any irony present. That show is hot, steamy garbage that's far from a hit, much less a decent series. Shallow, 1-note personalities painted over characters a great show does not make. When it's bad enough that Id rather watch something like... Uncle Grandpa, or the few crap live action series they had going on the channel instead...? yeah, they done f***ed up. I've shown some of my kid cousins clips of it and the Sonic cartoon (real cheesy cruddy one, not the good one), and they actually chose the latter to watch...! Maybe it's because they love Grinder... I don't know, but sonic boom has no personality of its own, that's for certain.

This is honestly the first time I've seen someone that hates it this much if I'm being honest. The common consensus with Boom is "The game's shit, the show's pretty good." Even the people that don't care for it usually just end it at a "Meh, it's fine, I guess".

Not to start anything. I'm usually a to-each-their-own kinda guy, I just found the rant a little surprising is all and thought I'd mention it.

That reminds me... Sonic Generations was a pretty legit game overall. Definitely preferred the 2D levels over the 3D though.

What the fizzity fuck was that?

I can't tell if that was genius or head fuckery. Maybe both...?

I wonder if they're the same people behind the twitter handle because whoever controls that is brilliant.

You know I always wanted to see Shia followup to his "motivation" video. Seriously he must feel like an right idiot for invertally created his own meme when he was seriously about his message.

Sticking in Labouf turned an awfully corny cliche' scene into something of a tolerable parody. Life is good.

Whoever is running Sonic's social media presence has been fucking killing it lately.

I wouldn't normally say this, but you should seriously consider following the Sonic the Hedgehog twitter, whatever intern they have running it is a comedy genius.

Why didn't Sonic friends just help him? There's gotta be at least ten of them all together.

Yeah, this has Aaron "RubyEclipse" Webber written all over it. I already knew he was handling Sonic's Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr accounts; I hadn't heard anything about doing the YouTube channel also, but I can't say I'm surprised.

P.S. Thanks

P.P.S. Edit:

Guy's not an intern. He actually used to work for SEGA a few years back, played a huge part in marketing Generations, and nagged Sega into making Sonic 4 Episode 2 marginally less shitty than the first episode. He resigned about a year ago to move onto other things, so it caught everyone off guard when he came back.

P.P.P.S. Thanks

Your response... I like the cut of your jib. Have I mentioned that I like you, jib-cut wise?

Seriously, the show should just be called "Shit Eggman Says". It's far more entertaining than that godawful William Shatner vehicle.

They should actually implement it in the game, that scene looks 100 times worse without Shia.

Well, one thing I've always taken pride in is my propensity for meticulously and well-cut jibs.

I think he knew exactly what he was doing. The guy filmed that speech in front of a green screen and put it out for all the internet to see. He may just may be some twisted genius.

Nothing started.

Just for me, and seeing how strong and interesting Sonic and its universe can get (again, see Sonic SatAM), it feels like a cheap cash in. It's similar to how I feel with Mighty No. 9. They kickstart the game, great! I love me some Mega Man. Then they announce an animated cartoon well before the game has actually released and proven itself. Then they announce a spin off to try and (fail to) capitolize on Mega Man Legends being canned to kickstart Red Ash, which is barely past 50% funding despite being more than 50% past its start date. On top of that, they announce an apparent live action short, as well as a third kickstarter along with Red Ash to do a 5 minute animated short, when the kickstarter goals for the last two are far from interesting or all that promising to people...

Sega, like Keiji, is pushing way too hard... Difference here is Sega has the... Well... Backing to keep pushing while Keiji doesn't. Sega gets plenty off of Pachinko machines and the like. Maybe Sonic Boom! Will take off somewhere down the line... But with the current way it is written...? I doubt they'll elevate themselves above "current day Adventures of Sonic" quality. And, to be wholly honest, I'm still no fan of the design... Tails works, great even, he should have that "kinda rough and wonky held together by bandaging" look with his accessories considering he's the tinkerer of the group. But sonic? Knuckles even? They overplay faults and do little else... Hey knuckles? Yeah he's the DUMB GUY! The new girl? Yeah she's the CRAZY CONSPIRACY CHICK! Also, easy and obvious new porn bait for all the people who draw that stuff, yo... Because Internet, why wouldn't it...? Honestly, aside from Tails, Dr. Eggman/Robotnik makes out pretty good... But again, the comparison to Adventures of Sonic is so painfully palpable that they even gave him two similarly themed cowardly robot companions...

I can almost appreciate Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog ironically... It's largely "Sonic is fast and snarky, foils Robotnik's plans, bada bing bada boom". But Sonic Boom!? It's "hey! Remember that song people like from Sonic CD? That's the title! But this the game instead! Except not nearly as great... Also more companions! Because FRIENDSHIP"

And yeah... I do get a bit ranty... I was a Sega kid, and by association a Sonic kid too... And honestly I'd rather watch FourKids bastardization of a localization of Sonic X over Boom!.
Edit: Didn't realize, but this is even bigger of a rant than the first post...! Go me, woo...! I loved Sonic as a kid, especially SatAM. Escapist ran an article a bit ago on why it was so great... And to be honest? It's likely the single best exploration of Sonic as a character and as a world. Comics get convoluted and fast, so even if the Archie comics are great, they are far too clumsy lore wise for anyone to get into, Adventures of Sonic and Sonic Boom! strive to be nothing more than mediocre easily written dribble... And Underground...? Well... I don't know honestly... It feels like a mix between Adventures and SatAM... It's alright, ignoring blatant "Cartoon Musicals of the late 80s/early 90s" vibe it was cashing in on. But Sonic SatAM? Bloody great still.
