Final Fantasy 3 on steam-

So, I'm seeing that FF3 has just been released on steam with updated graphics and all that. I loved playing the game back in the day on an emulator and I'm curious about this.

I'm worried about the fact that apparently it's based on the DS version, which apparently, due to DS system issues, is actually significantly harder then the original version. Let's keep in Mind that FF3 was already Nintendo Hard to start with, particularly the hellish slog through the final dungeons at the end of the game(Only FF2 is harder and that's because of the broken ass leveling system).

So my question is, has any work been put into re-balancing the PC version of FF3 to make it more in line with the original difficulty(or making it a little easier at the end. I wouldn't mind that either)?

When I originally went through the game I was just a student and going through a 40+ hour game wasn't a big issue, but now I've got a lot more on my plates and having to replay the final dungeon 15 times because they made it even harder isn't appealing to me.

Actually, is it even worth picking up the PC-steam port if I've already beaten the game? Did they change the game enough(other then making it much prettier now) to make it work a replay?

I've played the DS version and the fan-translated NES version. They're basically the same in difficulty and the DS version was, if anything, easier.

The main difference (besides the visuals and audio) lies in the main characters no longer being player-defined blank slates. There's still a job system though, so you define their roles in gameplay.

I'd actually say FF3DS was EASIER than the original version.

So, yeah, it might be worth it.

Just remember to level up EVERYONE.

That's encouraging. I'd been browsing the TVtropes page for FF III and it mentioned in several points that a lot of the bosses and enemies were made a lot harder to compensate for the fact there could only be three of them on screen at any given time, even emphasizing how hard it was in comparison to the original version.
