Really, it is not as if FFXIII is an action game. (It would have been better off if it had been but that is a different topic.) The visuals and the story have always been more important simply because the interface is so menu driven. If they really felt that the gameplay was most important they would not have spent as much time as they do on visuals consistently. Secondly when you see video (in particular.) with blocks, what you are looking at is a compression artifact in all likelihood. At standard viewing distance for your display it is not hard to spot even if the video was encoded well. People don't need a second higher quality source to see compression artifacts in FMV, it is blatantly obvious on HD displays.Random Bobcat said:As I said: without them running side by side the difference is minute.shadow skill said:It isn't about believing it or not, it is a fact. Just looking at captures of the game you can see the difference. In a game that depends so much on visuals you are going to notice that the game doesn't look as good even without being able to see both side by side. It's fairly easy to see things like compression artifacts on an HD display.
With a large enough TV, both look poor anyway - square fingers etc abound.
And I didn't recall the game depending on its visuals - such as Square have always smashed the graphical flair department, however in this particular genre gameplay is more paramount.
As said it isn't this "reason" that people cry; it's an apocryphal basis.

Final Fantasy originally started with Nintendo. It wasn't until FF7 that was on the Playstation.Seldon2639 said:Eh... It'd be a bit like Halo going multi-platform. Yeah, the early history of the developer wasn't with Microsoft, but the two have become so linked that it's a bit like a betrayal of the original fans.
The Final Fantasy series was originally on Nintendo first.soapyshooter said:FF is a PS game, not a xbox game. Not a fanboy i would've booed too

Yes but everything after FF VI until FFXII was released on the PS. Its a PS exclusive, thats how i see it.gof22 said:The Final Fantasy series was originally on Nintendo first.soapyshooter said:FF is a PS game, not a xbox game. Not a fanboy i would've booed too
FF13 isn't 1080p native. It's 720p native on PS3 which it upscales to 1080p depending on display.Belladonnah said:There's a difference between 1080p native resolution and 576p native resolution upscaled to 1080p. Also, the 2x anti-aliasing is applied on PS3 after 1080p upscale, while it is applied at 576p on x360 before the upscale.
In that period, there were only four PS2 exclusives. FFIX, X, X-2, and XII. FFVII, VIII, and XI all had PC releases.soapyshooter said:Yes but everything after FF VI until FFXII was released on the PS. Its a PS exclusive, thats how i see it.
While sane people should agree that the PS3 version is superior why do you have to resent 360 owner F 13? Be happy that you can enjoy the game even more so if you have the luck to own a PS3. Lucky you!Ubermetalhed said:This made me laugh and i would've done the same. I'm sorry but do i want a 3 disc, graphical downgrade version of the game on a console which isn't synonymous with Final Fantasy? No, no i don't. Good on 'em.
I would bet a lot of money that the average person, and even the average gamer, have no clue in hell what a "compression artifact" is or looks like.shadow skill said:It's fairly easy to see things like compression artifacts on an HD display.
And wasn't FFXI on the 360, also?GloatingSwine said:FF13 isn't 1080p native. So actually, with five exclusives (FF2-6, FF1 was also released on MSX), Nintendo are still the Final Fantasy platform
