Heh, I probably would have booed, too.

I mean, FFXIII was originally meant to be a ps3 exclusive, and there are TV ads in the uk which only acknowledge the 360, almost as if its an xbox exclusive.
And?
No seriously, why does this matter?
Shhh, it's ok. Ignore the fanboy. Come, sit with me and have some tea, he's only trying to upset you.

Actually FFXIII was first built for the PS2, than it moved to the PS3. It was never a PS3 exclusive officially as Square had thoughts of making it for the 360 as well.

Damn fanboys. I've gotta give an internet high five to that presenter though for thinking quick on his feet and verbally flipping them off.

Assumptions everywhere, how do you know why they booed?
Although the fanboys on page 4 of the comments made me laugh.

Can't believe they'd be so idiotic. Final Fantasy's 7,8, and 11 are available on PC, there are FFs on the Wii, SNES, NES, Gamecube and DS... Final Fantasy has a HISTORY of being multi-platform. It's NEVER been a Sony exclusive.

Eh... It'd be a bit like Halo going multi-platform. Yeah, the early history of the developer wasn't with Microsoft, but the two have become so linked that it's a bit like a betrayal of the original fans.
Halo nearly did go multiplatform, there was a prototype of a DS version made.
I think you mean this. (In case of broken video, break glass. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCvNIVqztpE])

On a side note, this was a fake one that someone made using Halo 2 [http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/halo2/index.html] footage.

Fuck all your opinions. This goes beyond fanboy-ism...well, actually, no it doesn't, but this is more-justified fanboy-ism than what happens with, say, which console is better.

Exclusive games have always been a part of gaming culture, and if they start to mix and match, people WILL be pissed. What if they decided to put mario on the PS3? Or made a Halo game for the Wii? Nintendo's wide variety of over-used characters are still very much the face of Nintendo. Microsoft has Halo, Gears of War, and all the other grunting man-children with too much armor. Playstation is all about God of War, FINAL FANTASY (the 3-d ones), and even Rachet & Clank.

The moral is don't fuck with a GAME'S fanbase. Console 'tards will usually break their code to play other console games, if they're good enough. People who have played the Final Fantasy series from the original Playstation are NOT going to be thrilled that they are being offered a 360. Console fanbase only lasts a year or so, game fanbase stretches all the way back, across generations, even. You just don't fuck with that.

To put it in perspective, PC gamers, what if you won a contest for the Mac version of Starcraft II? Are you feeling pissed yet?
It makes so much sense now.

You would have booed? I think it just showed how immature the crowd were.

As far as the adds go, I'm sure Microsoft must have put some money in if the 360 is getting a plug. Maybe SONY should put their hands in their pockets as well.

Multiplatform is a great step for a developer. A bigger audience, more sales, more money for the next title.

Having said that I will not be getting the new FF. Been there and done that, I'm bored with JRPGs.
a game like this cannot look good on the xbox, it needs to stay on the ps3, multiplatform games hurt the ps3 because..

its easy to program first for the xbox then port it over to the ps3, in turn the graphics are not as good for the ps3 as they should be.. the proof is in games like GTA, Ghostbusters, MW2, and so on.

if you take exclusives for both systems and put them side to side the PS3 always looks much better,
Games like Ghostbusters, GTA, and MW2 sell better when they are multiplatform. Graphics may suffer but I don't care if I rent a down graded version of FF 13. I can still see the characters and the text.

MW2 sold so well because it was multiplatform and in the end the payout is what most developers care about anyway.

Game-play and story are what matter to me, not graphics.

Did nobody ever play a FF game before FF7? No? Here's some information, it wasn't a Sony exclusive before!

And what's all this talk about fanboyism? 60-65% of the Final Fantasy fans I know are girls and maybe 10% of the guys who are fans have trouble admitting it for fear of being called a fag or weeaboo.

But I digress. I'm not a fan of developers making exclusive deals with particular consoles. It screws out people who don't have the capital to afford multiple platforms. I'm also not a fan of those who trash developers for not being multi-platform simply because they don't have the resources. I'm also not a fan of developers who sacrifice top performance of one platform so they can work on the development of the version of a weaker one's simultaneously (Cough Deus Ex: Invisible War) and alienate their own fanbase to appeal to another's (Cough Deus Ex: Invisible War).

So you pretty much can't please me. But I can see arguments from both sides.

I've seen screenshots of both versions, and while I can see a difference if I squint I don't see how it would adversely affect the game in any way. I'd have to pause the TV and get real close to notice the differences that people have been pointing out.

Console loyalty is stupid. Why pay a company so you can advertise their product? Exclusives don't help anyone, and multiplatforms don't hurt anyone. I'd love to see PS3 owners explain to me how having FF13 available on the XBOX360 has hurt them, specifically.

Remember all the people complaining about how CoD had forgotten the PC gaming grounds in which it had been planted, blossoming instead in the verdant console greens? It's kind of the same thing.

Imagine Mario going multi-platform.
This is not even close to this hypothetical. FF was originally a nintendo franchise that moved to the PSX because nintendo refused to move on to CD-ROMs as their primary form of Media. Square Enix realized that attaching themselves to the PS3 alone when the two consoles have pretty much divided the market in half was stupid. What did Sony ever do for them, really. They did not contribute to development costs (a la Mass Effect and KOTOR). They were not under some sort of contract. Square-Enix was under no obligation to justify their fan-boy's purchase of the PS3 when it was never annouonced as an exclusive. It was just assumed.

This whole console wars thing is getting really freaking old.
You should also note that MW2 took away dedicated servers, which is something PC gamers will clutch with an iron fist, which you'll have to remove from our cold, dead fingers.

I don't think FFXIII "betrayed" the PS3 crowd at all. I think it kind of strayed from the Final Fantasy formula a bit, but if anything that's just made me appreciate the older games more. (In that case some of the whinyest might argue that it "betrayed" the fans by being too different or something but fans will always find something to whine about anyway.)

Wow talk about nerdrage. I agree the ps3 version is better but I also know it's nice when something potentially cool becomes more accessible.

So it bothered you when FF7, FF8, and FF11 were released on PC? It bothered you that Final Fantasy 1-6 were on Nintendo systems? As you said, console 'fanbase' is meaningless. People who have followed the game since its Nintendo origins, through Sony, and into the world of PC gaming will not think twice about it being on the Xbox.

It is fanboyism. Ok, so what if Nintendo did let Sony put older Mario games on the PS3 or the 360? Many gamers of our generation would rejoice getting to play the games of our childhood. Sure, some people would get mad but that is their problem. I would personally love to play Super Mario Bros. on my PS3 or 360. It will not likely happen so there is no need for people to worry about it.

If I won a contest for the Mac version of Star Craft II I would sell the version I won and use the money to purchase the PC version.

Besides, why would PC users enter into a contest to win a Mac version of Star Craft II? That is just silly.

Also, just because you don't agree with other peoples opinions doesn't make yours right either.
