Final Fantasy VII Remake Would Take Too Long to Develop

How does 3 or 4 times longer of a development cycle make any sence? The fast majority of pre-development is done, the game mechanics are done, all they'd really have to do is record some voices and make some graphics and boom; remake.

Look, if you want to play Final Fantasy VII, there's nothing stopping you--the game's already out. And it's had five spinoff games, a CGI movie and an anime as well. Do you really need to shell out another sixty bucks for a shinier version of a thirteen-year-old game?

Besides, even if Square did remake it, no one would be satisfied: that is utterly impossible at this point. If they simply upgrade the graphics but leave everything else untouched, you'll be bored to tears, having long since committed every last facet of this game to memory. If they make even the slightest change to the battle system, or to the story, or to anything else--if there are any surprises whatsoever in this hypothetical remake--people will immediately declare that Final Fantasy VII has been RUINED FOREVER.

So just be happy with what you've got, okay?

That's crap. Remaking a game with updated graphics would take 3 times longer than it took to develop a new original game completely from scratch? That's the biggest load of bull I've ever heard.

Why would it take 4 times as long as XIII, is XIII going to be 1/4th the length of VII or something
After reading this article I realized that FFVII's planet was indeed a full SPHERE world with cities/dungeons doted alover the map though once the graphics increased so much when FFX was made it hasn't really been a WHOLE planet you explore so much as a wide range of locations with different climates, wildlife, and species. Not to mention all of the details you'd need to make for the one time events that occured like the Launch of the Rocket in Rocket Town The Golden Suacer's over night event, the roller coaster, Chocobo Circut, The Mako Cannon (both Versions) and the several stages of the Highwind to name a few .... Though if they could it'd be amazing but I can now grasp why it's not readily doable now. :(

Edit: Not to mention they'd have to make & destory the galaxy just becuase of the spell "Super Nova".
This is pretty much what I think of it. I would love to see a current gen remake but can you imagine running around the world map - how could they make that look good? If they went for a straight up graphics upgrade it would look ridiculous, not to mention take a hell of a lot of work. This is why they haven't had a world map since the PSOne (I think so anyway).

Yeah that's (unfortunitly) my point and yeah FF:X was the 1st one on the PS2 after FF:IX on the PS1 which had a world map.

Are they even thinking about the amount of money they could potentially make? I would think about it more seriously because I think every fangirl in the entire world would want about 100000 copies for all their relatives.

They should release it on PC so I can play it.

Anyway, I dont' see how the people behind Final Fantasy can't make a game in a year that will make them ridiculous amounts of money.

It couldn't possibly be that difficult.

But whatever. In 6 eyars or so I'll know just how muc heffort would be required.

Get 20 guys to work 40 hour weeks like normal people, and there you go. Done. Give them incentives like a bonus based on how much it sells.

And watch it arrive on store shelves.

14 years to make a game that already has a written story (that granted could be slightly improved on)?

Talk about a load of crap-o-la.

2 years tops to simply re-create it graphically, no way it needs 14 years of graphic design time. Advent Children didn't take that long and it took forever itself.

I have to admit I'm highly sceptical of this dubious claim.

I don't understand why it would take 3-4x longer longer to make game A that it would to make game B when they already know what the story is going to be and how the battle mechanics will work.

As for the graphics, can't they just use the Advent Children models? That's how it works, right? You make 3D models of characters and move them around on the screen like they were puppets?

Well, that has to be the stupidest excuse to not do something that I've heard it a long time. He says it would take longer to remake FFVII (a game which already exists) than it did to make FFXIII (which had to be developed from scratch)? Well I think that's a lie from his mouth,

That didn't stop them making Final Fantasy 13.
But really I'm happy with FF7 as it is. I like how minimal it is outside of cutscenes.

I call bullshit. There's no way the game would take that long to make, unless it was going to be vapourware. Who knows, maybe FFXIV is a sequal to FFVII (7 times 2, get?). it could happen. Maybe that's why he keeps screwing with everyone's heads.
Final Fantasy XIV is going to be their next MMORPG, like how Final Fantasy XI was...just so you know..

See here.. Final Fantasy XIV Online
I was unaware of that. Thanks. A guy can dream though.

I can understand it also. But really in my opinion they need to remake 5 and 6 first like they did with 3 and 4 for the DS. That would be great wouldn't it. Especially six. By the time there done with that in order we might have a next Gen hand held and better tech for a remake seven that we could us on the PSP next or something.
