So FFXIV players have been encountering login problems the last several days, and it would seem it's all come to a head with a confirmed DDOS attack against the game's NA/EU data center (apparently this does not include the Japanese servers). And no word on whether or not any attempt at accessing private information has been attempted.
From what I can tell attacks on this scale usually happen for some kind of purpose, like the dev or publisher said something to piss off somebody or they're trying to protest something. But FFXIV players are pretty happy with their game, all in all, and the community has a downright friendly relationship with the game's head dev, whom we lovingly refer to as "Yoshi P." So what is this, just a random attack for the lulz?
