Final The Last of Us DLC Maps, Skills, New Difficulty Shown in Trailer

<youtube=j8nBuBPPbGU>
Naughty Dog says new difficulty mode in The Last of Us is "near impossible."

Tomorrow the latest The Last of Us multiplayer patch will go live, and this week the last DLC will be available through the PlayStation Store. A trailer released today shows off the Reclaimed Territories map pack, the professional survival skills bundle, the situational survival skills bundle, and the grounded mode difficulty.

The new difficulty mode is the hardest mode in the single-player campaign, and Naughty Dog has stated it makes the game nearly impossible to complete. The remaining content is available for multiplayer. Each pack or bundle will be sold separately for those without a Season Pass. For those without a Season Pass, Reclaimed Territories map pack costs $9.99, the Survivalist Weapon Bundle costs $5.99, and the two Survival Skills bundles cost $3.99 each. Sony will stop selling season passes after the week of May 13. All players will receive the full-auto rifle for free.

The remastered version of The Last of Us for PS4 will be available the third or fourth quarter of this year and includes all of the DLC. Naughty Dog is looking into a discount [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/133829-Sony-Looking-Into-Discount-for-Last-of-Us-PS3-Owners-on-PS4] on The Last of Us Remastered for players who purchased the game originally on the PS3, but the company cannot guarantee anything yet.

Naughty Dog will show off the content in more depth in a livestream today from 12:00 p.m. to 1 p.m. Pacific Time. More details about the patch will be released just before the update goes live.

I wish they'd give some more information on how exactly it is "nearly impossible".

How, exactly? Are all the enemies bullet sponges to the extreme? Do you get one shot by everything? Are there more enemies, do clickers just detect you permanently? Because with some careful thought and decent play Survivor difficulty wasn't too hard, so jumping up from that to "nearly impossible" is a big leap.

I hope they'll give me a discount, I've bought that damn game twice already.

And yeah I'm also curious as to how the difficulty will increase.
No supplies/loot at all?
Clickers will detect you from miles away on even the slowest sneaking speed?
Only one gun and all infected are superfast bloaters?

Hopefully there will be a GOTY edition for the PS3 version, because that is the one that I have been waiting for.

I assume it'll just be Survivor, but with even less ammo and supplies, more damage, and higher enemy awareness. Maybe they'll even reduce the amount of salvage and bricks/bottles. I doubt they'll add more enemies - That's usually not the action game way of ratcheting up the difficulty. It certainly isn't the Naughty Dog way.

A pity they only released one story DLC and the rest was all multiplayer. I adored the main game but have never had any interest in taking it online.

It must have been pretty popular though, to keep adding more DLC for it, although I guess that as they did a Season Pass they never had any choice in the matter unless they were willing to give refunds.

I really ought to buy it again, I've felt the strong desire to go back through it again recently.

The multiplayer was surprisingly solid, and more importantly it allowed people like me--who suck when it comes to combat but are outstanding at support roles--to earn just as much, if not more, points and exp than straight fighters did. It was the only reason why I was able to get the platinum.

But you're right, the single-player story is where the game truly shines, and it is a pity that we only got one DLC for that. And a DLC that, to me, felt very weak and rather pointless. It could have been so much more.
