First Doom DLC Dated, Double XP and Second Free Update Coming This Weekend

Doom's first DLC is Unto the Evil, and it finally has a release date. On August 5, you'll be able to check out the three new maps, a new player-controlled demon, and two new weapons: the UAC EMG pistol and the Kinetic Mine. Also included in the DLC are new armor sets, new patterns, colors, and taunts, and new hack modules as well.

To help get you ready for the DLC, tomorrow brings the second free update for Doom, and it's accompanied by a double XP event that runs through July 31. The free update adds a one-flag Capture the Flag mode for Exodus, a Capture and Hold mode for Sector, and also adds hell modules, a weapon wheel, and jump pads to Snapmap.

The Unto the Evil DLC will set you back $14.99 when it launches next weekend, unless you own the Season Pass, which runs $39.99 and includes all three planned DLC packs.

I misread that as saying "Kinetic Mime", and briefly wondered if id Software had gone the way of Volition.

God, I hope not! Sorry I can't provide you with an answer, but this was the exact question that pops up for me everytime I read something about Doom DLC. Hell, they could simply transfer every level of the two originals into the new game and I'd throw money at the screen.

I have no idea as to what shitstorm you are talking about but I personally want me some juicy 32 level combined expansion pack that takes me on a demonic trek across the solar system... That reminds me, I really want to know what happened to the demon that built your armour for you, what they are up to. Hell seems to have its own culture and ideology that I would really like fleshed out no matter how effed up.

asking my self that question too. but from the sound of it, its MP only. the least fun part of the game. good thing i did not get the season pass, that would have been a massive waste of money for me.

I'm also here crossing my fingers for single-player content that'll probably never come.

C'mon guys, you're givin' out these new demons and weapons, just squeeze 'em into the campaign and we'll call it good, mm, how 'bout that?

Yup they are on a loosing streak with their DLC, if they had made the DLC for single player people would be throwing money at the screen to get it because I think most of us can agree the single player was fucking awesome, I certainly know I would. On the other hand making the DLC all multiplayer is on to a big big loser. Firstly I have no interest in it, I can imagine a lot of others have no interest in it having read the general opinion of the multiplayer not being great but worse still they are now splitting the already small multiplayer user base in to those that DON'T have the DLC and those that DO.

I am guessing that somewhere along the development cycle it was decided that the multiplayer was going to be a really big thing post launch so the money and time was thrown at that and now they are too far along to pull the plug.

I have no interest in multiplayer content for Doom. I don't have PS+, so that goes for everything else as well.

I'd like more single player stuff, but I guess I'll just have to wait until the sequel like in the days of yore and I'm okay with that. I'm not okay with having to download a 13gb update for something I won't even touch though.

I still can't find a single damn game in MP. The best I got was finally a full party... which was stuck looking for games anyway. Which is completely daft.

Also no lobby chatroom to help while away the boredom. And the fact you have to restart the game every time you want to play multiplayer coupled with a long as hell load time. No wonder nobody wants to play the goddamn multiplayer.
