First Fallout: New Vegas Video Diary Hits the Tubes

The first Fallout: New Vegas [http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-New-Vegas-Collectors-Pc/dp/B003N0YCDA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1284751139&sr=8-4] video developer diary has been released, featuring several members of Obsidian talking about the early stages of the story and how it draws the player into the game.

You can tell that Fallout: New Vegas is getting close. Earlier this week we got a look at the list of possible New Vegas companions [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103504-Fallout-New-Vegas-Companions-Revealed] and today Bethesda has unveiled the first video developer diary, giving gamers a quick glimpse at the game's plot and the rebuilding city of New Vegas.

"Fallout 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-3-Game-Year-Pc/dp/B002BXKJA0/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1284751481&sr=1-5] starts with you being born, and you're a baby, and you go through your young adulthood until you leave the Vault," Project Director J. E. Sawyer explains. "In New Vegas... you start the game in a very Vegas sort of cliche style almost. You're shot in the head and dropped in a shallow grave, so it starts with essentially your would-be death."

The developer diary contains a few very minor spoilers about the New Vegas story, although probably nothing you don't already know if you've been keeping up with news about the game, so consider yourself warned. Fallout: New Vegas is scheduled for release on October 19 for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

well check me down as interested. this game seems to actually have a story this time around that is not written by a 4 year old so i will definitly be giving this its run throughs, and with those short gameplay tid bits it seems at least on par with fallout 3 so thats not bad, hopefully some decent mods will pop up especially with the factions (maybe new factions even)

Might be a stupid question, but have we got system requirements for this game yet? Will it be roughly the same as FO3? I'm definitely interested in getting it, but I might need to upgrade a few aspects of my PC for it too ;<

This game would be good if only for the combat system but hey its a RPG so the combat system sucks, they should have taken the RPG part out and made GTA witch is a RPG but wont say it is, therfore GTAs combat was good

What do you think will be bad about the combat?

I don't want another "boss fight" with a Computer.

This, was the only boss fight in the Fallout series that felt like a Actual boss.

Except for the master.

The thing I want to know, is will New Vegas be to Fallout 3, as KOTOR 2 was to KOTOR 1? At least in terms of presentation and story.

Because if so, I will snap this up in a heartbeat.

Well you can't get any lower story-wise than F3, except maybe Oblivion. Black Isle/Obsidian have proven that they can write a great story.
The gameplay will certanly be better from what I've seen. F3's gameplay was crap.

So, who wanna bet on Mr. House being a computer?
I'd wager more "perfectly preserved brain" not unlike that one you met in Point Lookout.

And it's the brain of Dr. Gregory House creating possibly the least expected crossover you could think of, but comes with the bonus of Hugh Laurie's dulcet tones.

I know the story will be top notch, but how have they improved the gameplay?

Also, I hope there aren't as many glitches, crashes, and framerate problems.

Bad shooting system
Bad turn bases vats system
Overall bad moment(feels like your sliding around)
Poor map layout(atlest for the old one)
Alot of land but nothing to do(old one)

Overall the engine sucks and the people that like it never played GTA or are the people that want everything to be super realistic(forgot to express how annoying this game is with the whole realism thing)

Wasn't really turn based so much as "I'm going to slow down time, take 10% damage and shoot based on maths calculations."

It also sucked at utilising grenades when your opponents were on a higher elevation to you.

Playing Nehrim now, y'know, the german made total conversion for oblivion. If the Devs of oblivion had any sense they would stick to churning out engines and editors and hand over the reigns of the series to those guys.

I hope Fo3 NV is as good as Nehrim, I really do.
